    The Trinity - an explanation

The Catholic theologian Scott Hahn also used the family as an illustration in First Comes Love.

    The Trinity - an explanation

Zeena, thanks for clarifying. The reason I asked is because your first reply to me could be read as sarcastic. But your clarification here puts it in fuller context. Yes, I also agree as well that "person" is the best term we have to describe Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I also think, however...

    The Trinity - an explanation

I'm not sure I understand your response, so let me ask for clarification. Are you saying the term "persons" is misleading in some degree? And if so, to what degree would you say it is misleading?

Titus 2:13 and the Divinity of Jesus

Continual non-responses and unsupported assertions. But should I have expected otherwise?

Titus 2:13 and the Divinity of Jesus

I asked you for an explanation as to how "shining forth" cannot be synonymous to "appearing" and I asked you to do it without red herrings (that is, irrelevant points). Not only did you fail to answer the question, you introduce at least one red herring. I'm sorry if the question was too hard...

    Oneness/Modalists - Beliefs?

MannaMinistry, with all due respect, you didn't answer the question. I didn't ask for you to explain "why God is NOT a trinity" - notice that I never even mentioned the Trinity at all, so I'm not sure why you brought it up in the first place. Can you state more clearly what you believe, not what...

    The Trinity - an explanation

You've hit upon the biggest problem: limited language to convey an unlimited God. I don't think, however, than an explanation of the doctrine of the Trinity is called for - rather a restating. The theologian Karl Barth, for instance, preferred to use the term "modes of being" instead of...

Titus 2:13 and the Divinity of Jesus

No idea what your point is here. I've seen more than a few of your posts about Greek to know you lack any credibility to be talking about "Bible students when they study greek." I never said Rotherham's translation is completely invalid and that "he didn't know what he was talking about." I said...

Titus 2:13 and the Divinity of Jesus

True, Rotherham didn't know better than the early fathers. No doubt Rotherham was a great scholar of his time. But he was only one person. Translations today are done in groups to bring balance and provide checks and balances against some off translation that one person alone may produce.

    YHWH-why deleted?

yeshuasavedme, In all graciousness, if you have two people who are saying that you're not providing evidence for anything and that no one is sure how what you're saying is connected, you probably need to reconsider that you are just not making sense. While whatever you're saying is probably...

    one verse for the trinity?

You can contest that but it would be to your argument's demise. There's a reason why an argument from silence is a logical fallacy. God actually isn't silent on the Trinity. Of course, you haven't put forth a correct understanding of the Trinity in the first place so I'm not expecting you to get...

    YHWH-why deleted?

I am glad that you aren't monologuing again and I want to thank you for that. Now I see somewhat what you're getting at with "Hoshea." However, you are still incorrect. The word "Yeshua" is not a verb but consists of two nouns: YHWH and yasha. These two nouns together make a complete sentence...

    YHWH-why deleted?

Glad we are clear on that. :) I was very much hoping you weren't going to start monologuing on me. Do you have any links for the BDB PDF?

    YHWH-why deleted?

Der Alter, I honestly don't know your point here. You put something in red and bold so I guess that's what you're getting at. That tells us what Yehoshua (Jesus) means: those first two characters that look like a slanted apostrophe and a vertical apostrophe didn't turn out too well here but that...

So many bibles! Which one to believe?

It even corrects the KJV in many places. Concise doesn't always mean accurate. And while the NASB is a quite decent translation, it tends to be more literal in that it often seeks to keep the word order of the Greek text which will result in sacrifice of something in some way or another.

    Questions for Trinitarians

Perhaps you could tell us with enough detail what you understand the Trinity to be and why there would be a conflict with the statement "God is one" and the Trinity. Otherwise I'll just think you you're kidding. :)

Titus 2:13 and the Divinity of Jesus

SaintYAN, with all due respect, do you actually do your own research on the Bible? I ask because this is the second time you have posted from your source, who incidentally gives only opinions. Here is your sources first opinion: See the big letters? That means this is his/her opinion. This is an...

Was it hypothetically possible for Jesus to loose His Salvation?

I'm just not understanding you. You're saying Jesus had salvation. What do you mean by this? Define Jesus' salvation. What are you thinking when you ask if "Jesus could have failed"? Define "failed."
