Unfortunately not. In my case, I finally just withdrew. I didn't make a big production out of it, I just keep my distance. My mother is really just an awful person and I'd prefer not to associate with her, except when it's absolutely necessary. I am much happier now.

It does seem a bit presumptuous (even condescending) to "forgive" someone who hasn't actually asked for forgiveness. The most likely reason for this is she doesn't feel she's done anything wrong.

Similar situation. I was relieved too. Still am, a year and a half post-divorce. Some things linger though . . . when I hear the garage door (and these days it's just my teen coming home), I occasionally still have that overwhelming sense of panic or dread or . . . I can't really describe it...

Michigan here too. Snyder has made enough enemies that I'm not convinced of his re-election chances. Nevertheless, the Right to Work thing was awesome (if not a bit of a surprise) and that alone makes it all worth it even if he ends up defeated in a re-election bid.

I assume you're referring to Social Security. The truth is no one "pays in" to Social Security. It is a tax (it was ruled as such by the Supreme Court back in the '30s) NOT an insurance program or investment program; and as such, no returns are guaranteed.

People, no one cares if you're gay. What they care about is redefining marriage in order to discriminate in favor of a specific group of people. Why don't we find the person/entity who defined marriage in the first place (hint: it is NOT the US Government) and let them redefine it?
