    Harry Potter? Be careful folks!

Yeah, more or less the same reason I replied to this topic the last time I stumbled across it. People were still discussing things and I chimed in with my views because I thought that they might help.

    Wedding Ring = Cure All?

Exactly. It's just as validly about stupid assumptions that have nothing to do with homosexuality.

Shield Of Faith's Law! Law #1, HATE.

Cool? Well, his hilarious misinformation is good for a laugh, so I guess we can agree. Seriously, read Dark Dungeons: that one is so blatantly made up that it's hilarious.

Shield Of Faith's Law! Law #1, HATE.

This is my real issue with the whole thing: whether or not it's true is debatable, but I've seen this observation made in similar forms in other places, including as far back as two years ago. The "law" is a standard component of the debate about when people call others on hate, not some...

    Harry Potter? Be careful folks!

I explore my beliefs based on problems that come my way, but my parents' lack of detailed apologetic knowledge isn't a problem. A fair enough argument. That's the thing- Harry Potter isn't about Wicca and paganism. It's about unquestioned magic that's as neutral as electricity and clearly...

    Report: Abstinence programs don't work

Exactly. It's better for parents to have the option as a default than to be too embarrassed or uninformed to teach their children about the most effective uses of birth control.

    Harry Potter? Be careful folks!

What evil? Everyone goes through a stage of imagining that they can turn into an angel at will or do magic or shoot X-Men-esque lasers from their eyes. Then they grow up, supported by their parents' faith, and realize that it's not going to happen. The reading skills, however, will last. Yes...

    Narnia..

Good, then. I can go see it after the frenzy of spring final exams dies down.

    Harry Potter? Be careful folks!

Children's Christian books may be all right, but there simply aren't as many of them in the mass market. Again, the HP witchcraft is fake: no amount of waving a stick and chanting will produce HP results.

    Harry Potter? Be careful folks!

If actual magic were a fruit then I'd agree with you. Since the fruits of HP lean more toward kids developing reading skills than to sacrificing puppies to Satan, I'm not worried.

    NaNoWriMo?

I'm at about 15,000 words, which is roughly on track for the goals I've set. I'm enjoying this a lot, and every time I start typing the ideas just stream out of my fingers. The characters have their own ideas. :-p

    Narnia..

^I hope they do as well with it as they did with the first one. If they do, it'll be quite a lot of fun: it's less exposition and more questing than the first.

    Reading the Da Vinci Code

He was amazingly good at inventing one plot and recycling it for four novels. They're decent thrillers, but the plot is the same with different names and different reasons to be on the run.

    Harry Potter? Be careful folks!

^Any update on the OP- changes of opinion or new information? We've drifted pretty far from the topic.

Christians: Homosexuality Is Sin, It Is Wicked, It Is Evil, And It Is An Abomination

^Have you thought of asking for that thread to be stickied? Shodan, a friend of mine, had his guide to rational debate stickied for the education of newbies and sometimes it helped a lot.

    Serious Debate

^But of course- Vimes is neck-and-neck with the Granny Weatherwax for best character set leader. And it would rock if the sky were octarine.

Fashion Bullies Attack -- In Middle School

Seriously, no one at mine seems to care much at all. Some of the sororities are a bit picky about that one, but only the members care. On any given day on the way to class I'll see everything from pajamas to pretty dresses to khaki kilts to pirate hats. People wear what they want and people only...

Am I the only one who ISN'T a harry potter fan..

^True. Despite the annoying nature of people who not only read HP all the time but won't shut up about fandom news, the encouragement to read seems worth it.

    Ted Dekker anyone?!

I think the sick imagery is about being shocking, but it gets everywhere in the story for no reason and takes away from the plot. If the books you mentioned are free of that nonsense then I think they'll be really great when I finally read them.
