    Biblical Referenes to the Trinity?

An interesting thing about the way some people teach the trinity, is how they approach building the teological position. For example, many people refer to "3 persons". But as there is no word "trinity", neither is there the phrase, or the concept "3 persons". John 4:24 says that God is...

Do you believe that your church has the absolute fullness of truth?

That's interesting. That means that there must be a set of writings that are historical records to accompany that denomination's practices. Since nobody now was alive then to attest to the practices or teaching, historical records would be the only way to know. Is that correct?

Water Baptism - Is It Really Necessary?

Acts 1 has an interesting verse, where Jesus states that John did indeed baptize with water, BUT, ye shall be baptized with holy spirit. Jesus did not say AND - a conjunction - but, "but", which can mean "instead of" or, a replacement for. How people believe on this subject can be affected by...

    Biblical Referenes to the Trinity?

Since Jesus prayed that we, or "they" may be one as "we" are "one", would it be fair to conclude that there is a 4 part unity? A quadrinity? If we are born of God's seed, have spirit and are also the sons of God, is it possible that there is a 4 part unity now? Not that we are God. Didn't...

The "Cross" - 2 pieces or a single pole?

Another post about a verse with "cross" in it, brought to mind something I was taught years ago. I was taught that the "cross" used by Romans for crucifixion, was not a T shaped 2 piece cross, but a single pole or "tree". The NT word in the text seems to imply a tree. But I've never found...

    please interpret this verse

It's an interesting verse, because the word cross figuratively mean "responsibilities". If the same meaning is used in another verse, it would mean that Jesus - beat to a pulp - carried his responsibilities, not a heavy wooden implement for crucifixion.

Do you believe that your church has the absolute fullness of truth?

So they didn't even change regarding the average person's right to read and interpret the scriptures for themselves? I'm referring to both doctrinal truth and practical truth. Or maybe you meant that too. Yes, I'm familiar with that, but there to have been some changes, even if just due to...

    Biblical Referenes to the Trinity?

I always felt it would be best for believers of the trinity to just drop that man-made term and just teach the appropriate verses. Formulas can lead to stretching the truth of some verses, even if a belief or doctrine is primarily correct. That can apply to several topics. If the truth is...

    Is this holy or not?

Isn't the command about the Sabbath in the OT law that was addressed to Judeans? Do you want to keep one day holy, or the whole year? If so, wouldn't you need to also offer all the individual sacrifices and keep the feasts? Or, are we not legally bound to the Sabbath commandment? Was that...

What does the Bible say about contraception?

Considered in the context of it's practical application, wouldn't the practice of ... Celibacy ...be birth control, itself? Why practice or mention the word, unless trying to prevent something?

Do you believe that your church has the absolute fullness of truth?

I'd say no, and I'd say that my church's overseers would say no too, if I asked them. To me, that makes sense. Because there is only one church as an entire body, and that's Christ's or God's church - the spiritual body of saved believers that remains from day to day as long as God's time-table...

At the Last Supper, they RECLINED at the table. They were supposed to stand.

I read a fairly lengthy book once that coordinated the events of the last weeks of Jesus life fairly thoroughly. It stated that for the least number of verses to contradict one another, the last supper must not be the Passover meal. The books best verses to support that, dealt with Jesus Chist...

It was God’s will that Adam sinned.

And what about the figures of speech that weed out part of the statements? If a parent says to their kids teasingly "I'm going to kill you for that", it's not mean, because the figure of speech is understood. Of the verses you wrote, what are all the figures of speech involved, both for...

Perpetual "slamming" - right, even for a cult?

Today, I have a couple of questions that I'm seeking scriptural insight for. I posted about this in the Pentecostal section too. There is a website, with a forum, that I've been too a few times over the past couple of years: http://www.greasespotcafe.com I posted about the Grease Spot in the...

New experts on the Pentecostal Way International

Many of you may be familiar with the Way International, which in most, or many regards is a Pentecostal style church. Apparently, it is said to be a cult, and has had internal adminiistrative difficulties for the past several years. Not long ago, I found a forum at a site called Grease Spot...

No man hath seen God at any time. And Jesus?

The verses are sure interesting when a concordance is checked. In that verse with Phillip and Jesus, the word translated "seen" is not from the Greek word which means to see with the eyes. That verse in John is referring to experiencing. Or to percieve as a result of what was seen. In other...

Interesting views about the Book of Job....

Job is an amazing book. God honors believing. And fear is not believing, but is doubt, worry or fear. Job in chapter 3 indicated that he got what he feared. Therefore he did not believe in that aspect with confidence to ward off the attack. Satan or the Devil has no rights over us, but does...

What does the Bible say about contraception?

I don't have much to add at the moment, but thought I'd revive the post to see what verses people have learned about the subject. I'm aware of one section about a guy spilling his "seed" on the ground. But if may be that God was more upset about the motive rather than the act. How about if the...

    What Defines "Different Gospel"?

Good thread title. Good understanding can be learned by determining not only what something is, but also by what it is not.

No man hath seen God at any time. And Jesus?

A few years back, that crossed my thoughts too. Then I realized that the Word clearly says "Father" when it means father. Like, it would say "no man hath seen the Father at any time". But then it seems that it means what it says - "God". No man hath seen God. In that Moses and burning bush...
