AV1611VET seems to forget that this is part of the science forum. How about arguing with some science?

To the fence-sitters: let me tell you why evolutionism is not feasible

Well, I laugh at creationism, and I feel sad for creationists. Since I don't believe that laughing at them will make them change their mind or educate them, it doesn't seem to have much of a point. I mostly feel anger and sadness for those poor people being indoctrinated, trapped, ignorant, and...

    We All Got Major Poe'd

It was made by Michael Edmondson, who was a computer animator for Expelled. He wrote to Myers: So in fact it isn't a video from either side making fun of the other side, but just a fun video. :)

For Opeth fans: The Lotus Eater and Porcelain Heart

You can listen to two leaked tracks of the upcoming album on youtube (the sound quality is bad, but at least that way you can still look forward to hearing the tracks in full quality on the album): http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=W2WpjkWTudg http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=reVRR-bq_-U I...

There doesn't seem to be much hope for a medical application in humans though: http://depressedmetabolism.com/2007/11/12/hydrogen-sulfide-does-not-induce-hypometabolism-in-sheep/

I would like to apologise to any creationists I have offended in the past.

I'll try to use logical steps to come to my conclusion. 1) Free will can only be the result of indeterminacy, because if something is determined, it cannot be free. 2) We define free will as a property that is exclusive to organisms with a higher consciousness, because without a higher...

    I love being a Creationist!

Hmm, you've got a good point there. The reflex of getting off the plate is probably caused like you have described, and the adrenalin only starts to have its effect afterwards (I can't believe I didn't think about the fact that the adrenalin has to diffuse throughout the circulatory system...

A reflex to a threatening situation is the result of heightened adrenaline release. Adrenaline heightens supply in oxygen and glucose to the muscles and brain, so that for a short time you are able to respond quicker to threatening situations.

Also, if you sit on a stove, the sudden pain will cause an adrenalin rush that will cause you to very quickly jump up from there, much faster than you would have if you had consciously thought "oh my, my butt is getting warm, I better get off of here".

I'm not a doctor, but I'm getting Animal Physiology during my Bio Engineer studies and yes, the heart keeps beating seperated from the rest of the body, it is myogenic, since the sinoatrial node is located in the heart itself and initiates the wave of excitation that makes the heart contract...

I would like to apologise to any creationists I have offended in the past.

If you say someone deserves this or that because of the actions he/she undertakes, you are basing what he/she deserves on the entity that "decides" which action to undertake. However, in a naturalistic reality, all we are made of, are particles of matter (and energy, but they are just 2...

    I love being a Creationist!

There are plenty of examples of ("macro"-)evolution that you can read about at talkorigins and numerous other websites that have been linked to you a thousand times. The fact that you just ignore this indicates that you don't want a reasonable discussion. People have given you plenty of...

^Maybe you should try and escape from the illusion of free will too, since from your reasoning of who "deserves" pity and who does not, you clearly still believe we have free will, while free will is not possible in a naturalistic reality.

If they succeed, they will be releasing an enormous potential in producing and catalysing basically whatever they want.

There is a perfectly reasonable explanation. The olfactory system has many different receptors that bind to many different volatile substances, which elicit different responses because the neural connections of different receptors target different parts of the brain, which thus will have a...

The salamander's urge to stay in the egg is nothing more than a result of chemicals emitted by its natural predators. The salamander has evolved the ability to sense its predator by "perceiving" the volatile molecules emitted by the predator and has also evolved a preprogrammed response to it...
