Good to see you again. I also pop in every few years. I remember you well from the heyday of CF.

Vicar guilty of ‘antisemitic activity’ banned until 2030

I know Stephen reasonably well, but never in the context of anti-semitism. I have always found him very helpful with expository teaching. The article posted is not particularly accurate. VW is not in the diocese of Winchester - it's in Guildford. In fact, one of Bishop Andrew's first actions...

Episcopal church marriages down 66% since 2003

There are a lot of factors as to whether someone gets married in church and these have changed a lot in the last 20 years. Here in England, a lot of venues have been allowed to offer marriages. Before it used to be just churches and registry offices. Now you can get married almost anywhere...

Anyone up for a chat thread?

I have been a very poor participant here over the pandemic. Our church, I think, has adapted well. We have grown in some areas, and obviously shrunk in others. Our main service is broadcast on our YouTube channel and that is here to stay. We have been allowed to worship in our building for...

    BCP revision?

The eldest person in our band is mid-50s, but the average age is in the 20s. Our choir on the other hand, has the youngest person about 70.

Still trying to understand why a praise group is performing but a choir is not.

So the choir lead worship but the band doesn't?

    BCP revision?

I will let our worship group know. And also that our choir are not valued.

    Engagement during isolation

Not all of us are super sacramentalists, but all of us have to practise social isolation. We rise to the occasion. When I was growing up, we celebrated the Lord's Supper twice a year. I think, as Anglicans, we can pace ourselves. As our Queen said, we will be together again.

    Engagement during isolation

Perhaps, but most our church family are not legalistic. What matters to us is that whatever we do, we do together.

    Engagement during isolation

In our agape meal, we have a very slimmed down eucharistic liturgy and then the screen goes blank while we do all our personal bread and wine. We definitely do not watch the vicar do his bit. We are given about five minutes to do our own bread and wine.

    Engagement during isolation

We do an agape meal in place of the Lord's Supper. I think it works for us, but I can't speak for those who need to have the bread and wine consecrated.

    Engagement during isolation

We have loved our worship services/agape meals, prayer meetings and home groups. What I was discussing with my husband was the loss of coffee time. We have morning prayer on YouTube and when it's over, it's over. What would be great is if we could all go over to Zoom and have a virtual coffee...

    Engagement during isolation

I won't know for sure until meetings resume. However, our some of our older member give cash offerings, some in envelopes and some plate. The vast majority of our offerings are through the Church Giving Scheme which is tax efficient and automatic. In our online services we have invited...
