The Separation of Church and State is not yet complete

Well, I wasn't talking about incest but since you bring it up didn't Abraham marry his half sister? Jesus said Abraham is a good example to follow. Does Jesus condone the incest of Abraham?

The Separation of Church and State is not yet complete

Freedom and liberty so as long as it doesn't infringe on others freedoms and liberties. That is the principle. The US does not have a "Christian" government. It is secular. Many of the founding fathers were not even Christians. God is not mentioned in the US Constitution and the...

The Separation of Church and State is not yet complete

We have much more freedom and liberty today than in the past. Tyranny is ancient. Liberty is new.

The Separation of Church and State is not yet complete

I'm pretty sure polygamy is illegal throughout most of the US. Not that it doesn't happen, but it is not legally recognized. As one of many enlightenment thinkers of the present I believe more freedom and liberty equates to advancement of society.

I disagree. Things will change as they always do.

The Separation of Church and State is not yet complete

It should not be the business of the government to tell people who they can and cannot marry. To me that should not be government domain. It is not appropriate for a secular government to give special benefits to heterosexual marriages over homosexual ones because that is just based off of...

I'm saying that the Synoptic Gospels make no mention of it. :)

A Major Difference between the Synoptics and the 4th Gospel

Both the Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John present Jesus as the son of God. However, in the Fourth Gospel, this title carries a more literal meaning. This can be seen by Jesus' constant discourse about himself and his Father. Jesus' self-described relationship to his Father in the...

    Who did Moses chat with?

Exodus 3:5-6 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at...

Did the Church hand down Scripture to us?

I never intended to prove anything. Do you wish to prove that the Catholic Church handed down the Scriptures to us?

    Who was Michael Servetus?

Did the Church hand down Scripture to us?

Good point about the Scripture and slavery. I'd imagine that many slaveholders even used the Bible to back the morality of slavery. Many of them probably considered their slaves sub-human and probably not worthy of God's salvation so to put a Bible in their hands would be futile. I never...

Did the Church hand down Scripture to us?

What you said is also propaganda. Propaganda is everywhere. It is inescapable. Before WWII propaganda used to be a neutral word. I disagree with many of the teachings of the CC, but I don't hate it. We are to love one another. If I were to hate the Catholic Church or Catholics then I would...

Did the Church hand down Scripture to us?

By many means, such as the banning and burning of books. By teaching the "lay" people only what they chose to teach. Much of the Bible was never read orally for the people so the entirety of the Scriptures was not available to them. If a lay person who happened to be literate wanted to read...

Did the Church hand down Scripture to us?

No. In fact, the Catholic Church has historically withheld the Scriptures from "us".
