    Here's another tithing question...

So many good answers here! I also believe that this should be a matter of personal conscience. You gotta do what you gotta do to feel right with your God. As for myself, I've never felt the least bit sorry about using my trackable gifts as a deduction on my income taxes. I see it as just one...

Any AWANA parents here? Need help!!!!!!

I ironed them on the first round, but they came off in the wash. Now, I iron them on just to hold them in place for sewing. Ironing them on before sewing makes it alot easier to get them sewn on straight. :D

When a wife is at her wits end with everything...

Lots of good advice here! Very thoughtful of you, Marv, for taking the time to be so precise and thorough. As has been said---consistency is the key. And it definitely needs to come from both parents. As for your wife being at her wit's end----even if the children were all perfect...

    School Fundraiser Rant

I do understand the need for some of these extra funds and my children do see the benefit of alot of these extra purchases made possible by these extra funds. However, I do not buy anything to support the fundraisers unless it's something that I actually want, like cookie dough or fruit...

    because you love them

I'm a toe nail clipper too. But only because he cuts them wrong and then has ingrown toe nail with lots of pain and whining. I'm really not very sympathetic, I just hate whining. :D He gets headaches and wants me to rub his temples. I used to spend lots of time doing this when we were younger...

How long do you have your children in your worship service?

Consequences? Well, as far as I'm concerned, being disruptive in church is a very serious offence---right up there with telling lies and out-right disobedience---so the punishment fits the "crime". Needless to say, they don't want any of that! :D So, I'd say whatever type of punishment you...

    My wife is losing it

Good one, c1ners! Or when she first wakes up in the mornings----tell her she's beautiful with all the sincerity and passion you can muster. She's got a fixation for some reason (see above), or maybe it's just habit. My mother stressed over me not wanting to "do" my hair every day. Now, and for...

How long do you have your children in your worship service?

My two little ones stay with us throughout the entire service and have done so ever since they've been with us (ages 2 & 3). I just took something quiet for them to "fiddle" with---usually books to look at, coloring books and crayons, puzzles and such. When it was time to pray or stand or sit or...

    Baby books

I was terrible at keeping up the "baby book" I got at my daughter's baby shower, but I've been pretty good at keeping the pictures organized. Not necessarily in an album, but in photo storage boxes, and in chronological order, too! :D I did do a "1st year" scrapbook for my grandson, but it...

Need some advice on taking in a troubled 14 yr old

I'll be praying for you and your step-daughter, as well as the rest of your children and husband. I came from a broken home myself, and as a parent of only one child for 17 years, we took in two little ones from other family members --- but they were very little, 2 & 3 yrs old at the time...

When do your kids go back to school?

Ours start on the 21st, just two more weeks. Seems like a short summer to me, too. But they're ready to go back, and I'm so glad they like school enough to "be ready" to go back. I wonder how long that will last? :D

    Arkansas

Hello all you fellow Arkies! Been here over a year and just found this thread. I'm smack-dab in the middle of the beautiful Ouachita Mountains, sittin' between the Ouachita River and Lake Ouachita. Not one stoplight in the entire county. :D I love it here---bugs, crazy weather, snakes and all!

    Magazine Cover

My immediate thought when I saw this picture was "How sweet!". Look at how that baby is looking up at their nurturer. Just so sweet.

    I REALLY need help.

All of what A2J said is wonderful advice, but this one little piece would be so helpful---from my point of view as a mother. We (us parents) just want to know that our children are not wandering around out there aimlessly, living on the mercy of this world that can be so cruel and...

    I miss you guys already

I did toss in my 2 cents, but it (obviously) didn't make a dent. If all I wanted to talk to were a bunch of baptists, I could have just walked out my own front door. That's all we've got around here in my little town. :sigh: Literally! And I hope some of "us" will be welcome to visit here...

    Splitting this forum

Man, oh, man---I'm gone for a couple of weeks and come back to this very sad situation. I must've missed something BIG. I actually searched for a forum specifically like this one (interdenom) in order to learn from and fellowship with other believers that don't all think just like...

    Unusal church service

The most unusual "church" type service I've ever been in was a women's conference with a very strong charismatic overtone. The squealing and shouting during prayer times was a bit distracting, not to mention the speaking/praying in tongues that was humming in my ears. And then there was the...

When did you start your kids on baby food?

WOW! Things are sure different than they were 25 years ago. This just goes to show how much doctors have learned in the past few years. My daughter (and all the other kids I knew in that age group) started getting cereal in their bottle (with a larger hole in the nipple) as early as 1 month...

    Are we to limit generosity?

I do think we should give whenever possible and do so joyfully and abundantly, but I also think we are led by the Holy Spirit to discern those situations that are nothing but a sham. After all, taking care of and being responsible for ourselves is as much a part of being a "good steward" as...

    Tantrums

Birth! :D Actually, she was just really loud at birth. The real tantrums didn't start until she was about 8 months old, but by the time she was a year old she had learned that the tantrums got NO reaction whatsoever and didn't try them much after that.
