    Patterns??

I'd look for a local fabric store chain/craft store and see if they have sales on patterns. I have a Hancock's Fabric and they usually will have patterns on sale for $1-$4 (depending on the brand) and I stock up on patterns then. If you can get on their mailing list that would help notify you of...

Could listening to loud music all the time make me eventually go deaf?

http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/teenworkers/hazards_noise.html Here's something by OSHA..it's directed towards teens but it has basic information on noise induced hearing loss. And here is the American Speech-Language Hearing Association's information on noise and hearing loss...

    So...how often do you...skip?

You know, one of the best indicators of student success is class attendance. I only skipped one class due to illness and it was a test my teacher let me make-up. I also skipped a day of classes to go on a field trip to a school for the blind and deaf but I let my teachers know ahead of time...

Have earphones deafened you? I say, HAVE

I think my older brother is causing hearing damage from listening to music too loud. I can hear his music quite well when I has headphones on. I always make sure I have earplugs when I go to concerts and don't stand near the speakers...even with earplugs it can be uncomfortable. I haven't had...

    The Myriad...Anyone?

I haven't gotten their new album yet, but I did get their EP and enjoyed the songs on it as well as some songs off their older album. I think I saw a snippet of a show of theirs a few years ago at a festival and they were good live. I should get their new album. They seem to be dedicated artists...

    Online or in classroom

I took about 3 classes online during my undergrad and they were ok. About half my graduate classes were online or mixed-mode where you met in class 3 times a semester or like every other week. There are definitely pros and cons to both. I think it really depends on what type of course it is...

Crochet - The Present My Friend Made For Me

I thought it would be a lot more difficult than it actually was. If you dont' mind working with smaller yarn and hook it isn't too bad. It just takes a long time to make something so small! There are some pretty simple patterns you can find in books or online though to begin with.

    crochet question

You've been a busy lady! I still haven't tried mastering knitting yet. I'm too stuck on crocheting. The scarves look very nice. As for the afghan in the picture, it looks like some sort of ripple afghan. They aren't too hard to make since you're repeating the same sequence of stitches...

Crochet - The Present My Friend Made For Me

That's one of the neatest doilies I've ever seen. I crochet rather tight too, but I have done some doilies that seemed to turn out ok. They can take a long time for such a small item though!

Trying To Sew And Very Confuzzled

I usually pick up sewing patterns on sale at fabric stores for like $1. It's a great time to stock up on them. Go for ones that are versatile too, that you can do several different styles. I've found Simplicity patterns to be the easiest to follow. Others, Like McCall and Butterwick, confuse me...

    Anyone ever knitted a Poncho?

I'm crocheting a poncho for my grandmother (who is 82) it's gray with silver thread held together in a fishnet stitch. I made two quadrangles (I think that's what they/re called?) I'm going to sew them together on the long sides so it makes kind of a big sqaure with a V-neck hole. Hopefully it...

    Homemade Christmas Gifts

Beading/Jewlery making does seem like it could get pricey if you go for the fancier or more expensive supplies. I used to be into beading some when I was in like my early teens, then I passed all my stuff down to my sister who passed it on to someone else when she got tired of it. I was poor so...

    Homemade Christmas Gifts

a throw? you better get started soon! I believe the "bark" being referred to is almond bark (there's a chocolate kind too) it's a candy coating that you can usually find by the chocolate chips/chocolate in the grocery store. I'm crocheting my grandmother a poncho this year. It's not quite...

    Crocheters?

hah yeah...neither have I. I pretty much never check gauge unless I'm changing yarn/hook. I probably should make it a habit. I guess I'm in too much of a hurry to get a project done. Or I dont' care what size it comes out.

    Do You Buy Discounted Texts?

I've only used half.com and amazon as well. I haven't had any problem with conditions of textbooks though. I just make sure to buy books that the condition states "like new" or "good", look at what it says about the condition of the book, and make sure I buy from someone with a good reputation...

    Which is easier?

I was told by someone who knits and crochets to learn to crochet first. I have knitting stuff but have never really invested time in getting decent at it. I think crochet is a bit easier because you're only dealing with a hook and not two needles, plus you use some crochet stitches in knitting...

    internet and spritual evil

It's a website for collectors...what if I don't collect anything? I don't know about myspace not being safe. I think that depends on how you use it. I've been there several years and haven't had any problems. I don't even have a private profile. You can keep your profile private and you don't...
