    Question on confession ?

I'm kinda hesitant about talking to the priest about this,as I feel its not really my place to do so, especially as I am not a Catholic yet. Have you heard of this happening elsewhere? How do I know now if there are any other things that might be happening that shouldn't? :sigh:

    Question on confession ?

Thanks Maggie, that's good advice.I feel a bit uncomfortable about questioning his methods, don't feel it is my place to do that, but I will let him know that I have read what it says in the CCC about this, and that his comment has caused me some confusion, ask him if he could explain his...

What he said was that they tell him, the've been to see sister *** and he says okay, that's alright, you don't have to repeat your confession to me, I believe you've already confessed to sister *** all you need is absolution. And he gives them absolution?

    Question on confession ?

Err.. A bit of a difference though! what worries me is that my priest may have some unorthodox views, but I don't know enough to know if that is the case. I am confused about what to make of this, and what to do. Not really my place is it, to make any remarks to the priest, seeing as I'm not...

    Question on confession ?

:( Oh... I thought It didn't sound right. I thought maybe there might have been some special circumstances that made this okay? Do you think I should raise some questions on this at the next RCIA meeting? What is puzzling though, is that if this is not supposed to happen, why didn't the...

    Question on confession ?

I definately didn't misunderstand what he said, because his exact words were," Sometimes people come to be and say they have seen sister *** and made a confession, and I say to them that's perfectly okay, I believe you, you don't need to repeat your confession to me, and I give them...

    Question on confession ?

 At RCIA this week I was told that when my priest is told by someone that they have made a confession to a Sister, in the parish, He doen't require them to repeat the confession, they only require him to give absolution, as the Sister can't do that. Is that supposed to happen? I...

Thanks for your replies, some interesting information. So there's two meanings to the term deacon? But I am confused about the comment made as RCIA, that it is possible that there will be female deacons in the future?

    Female Deacons?

I just read this article, which I found interesting. Is this a debatable topic in the Church? Has it been established in what capacity these women in the early church served? It seems that this is a controversial subject. IS this mainly due to the arguments put forward by the liberal Catholics...

    Female Deacons?

I wondered why the Catholic church does not have female deacons? This came up at RCIA this week, and I was told that it could happen in the future, as there were female deacons(deaconess) in the first several hundred years of the church. Does anyone know more about this? Also what is the...

    Charismatic Catholics.

I don't know who the person was, but I know that they were not Catholic. However,I am not sure that I agree with your comment. Are confirmed Catholics the only people that can recieve the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit"? I don't think so. I am not yet a confirmed Catholic, I don't know what the...

    Charismatic Catholics.

I went to an ecumenical pentecost celebration sunday evening, at a pentecostal church. towards the end when we were all silently praying someone stood up and spoke in tongues. Then there was silence until someone else gave an interpretation, which was a verse of scripture. It wasn't one of the...

The Gospel and the Mentally Handicapped

I used to work at a care home for adults with learning disabilities. The majority of the residents were Catholic, as the home was funded by a Catholic charity. Some of the residents had a severe level of mental handicap. The parish priest came once a month to give communion to the Catholic...
