Hmmmm...that sounds remarkably like the argument Catholics give when they are accused of worshipping Mary, statues, and dead Saints.

Ok I see your point...but we are not kissing, praying, or doing rituals on our bibles. The remark is so stupid!
All we are claiming is that the KJV is the truth.

KJV is a TRANSLATION. JESUS is the Word!

No translation is going to be perfect. The BEST translation is the one you read, the one you use, the one that guides your life.

There have been KJV "advocates" on this board that condemn any other translation. I've read where they've called other Bibles "baby food" while KJV is "food for grown ups."

This whole "Bible Duel" is foolishness. We are ALL members of the Body of Christ, and we're supposed to work together, not get into playground fights about "my book is better than your book."

If you honestly enjoy the KJV, then by all means, enjoy it! It's a matter of taste, like preferring coffee to tea.

Do you think that when we all gather at the Banquet of the Lamb in Glory, that it's going to MATTER which Bible we used?

Peace be with you,

I might add that believing that the KJV of the Bible
is not to make one necessarily a better Christian.
The Mormons believe that the KJV is the best
translation. The Jehovah Witnesses also hold
the KJV in high regard --- though they also promote
The New World Translation (which distorts scripture
to suit their OWN doctrines)...

I can imagine my wedding in KJV-only language:
"Jeffrey, dost thou taketh Teresa to be thine wife?" :D

What about 1 Kings 2:10 in KJV:
10 Then David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

Boy doesn't that implie something nasty in this day and age?

I like it better simply saying he died. :) Much more literal.

How about the one about Saul's head and shoulders being very deformed.

And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.

Noone ever said that one who reads the KJV is a better Christian.. Boy if that isn't a retarded remark.
In scripture we are warned that the word of God will become corrupted by men. NOW if Jesus is the only WORD OF GOD, then how can HE become corrupt. HE cannot, so the bible must be speaking about the actual scriptures.
Here take a look
2 Corinthians 2:17  For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
How can we NOT have a perfect translation when the bible says this?
1 Peter 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

My whole point here is that the remarks about KJV only people is invaild. As for debateing on which translations is the best...there is a better thread than this one with an enormous amount of evidnece proving the fact on why WE KJV people belive in this specific translation.

If you PREFER the KJV, fine!

But as I said earlier in this thread:
This whole "Bible Duel" is foolishness. We are ALL members of the Body of Christ, and we're supposed to work together, not get into playground fights about "my book is better than your book."

If you honestly enjoy the KJV, then by all means, enjoy it! It's a matter of taste, like preferring coffee to tea.

There is no "superiority" to be gained by proclaiming one translation over another. That could be construed as boasting, and Paul warned us against that. The fight isn't between Christians, it should NEVER be between Christians.

Use THE WORD as your shield and share the Gospel!

Peace be with you,

Well lamb, if your going to say that you yourself translated them, then yes I would say that you corrupted the bibles. NO...that is not what it means....Everyone who is saved is saved thru christ alone, not thru bible. Its not the bible that saves you so how in the world could anyone be corrupt in their salvation by reading a corrupt translation. Thats like saying, If I read the NIV< OR even the NWT, i would then be corrupting salvation.
your grasping at staws here lamb.
I am sure I made my point as crystal is a point could be.
NOW...moving on...how bout that weather?

Anything that becomes mighty and powerful in your life, and keeps you from being loving and kind to your fellow Christians can be an idol.

People who are so entrenched in the belief that the KJV is the only valid word of God can be quite cruel and mean to other believers who study out of other translations. I've seen people kicked out of Bible study for using the wrong Bible, even though that person was a fellow child of God through Christ.

When a book, any book, becomes more important than the brothers and sisters in Christ, it becomes more important than Christ's actual message of loving one another. If it becomes more important than Christ's message, then it is more important than Christ. It becomes an idol.

Not everyone who loves the KJV allows it to become an idol, but some do.

ouch...
i must go repent now...
:sorry:
