I think he's referring to the second set of commandments given to Moses in Exodus 34:

1. Thou shalt worship no other god (For the Lord is a jealous god).
2. Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
3. The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep in the month when the ear is on the corn.
4. All the first-born are mine.
5. Six days shalt thou work, but on the seventh thou shalt rest.
6. Thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, even of the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
7. Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread
8. The fat of my feast shall not remain all night until the morning.
9. The first of the first fruits of thy ground thou shalt bring unto the house of the Lord thy God
10. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.

There are several different versions of the 10C in the Bible, each slightly different. In addition, they are numbered differently according to what type of Bible you are using.

It would not be an easy task to display the 10C without showing a governmental preference to particular Christian denominations at the expense of others.

I think that if the leaders of the various Jewish & Christian denominations got together and unanimously agreed on the 10C, then we could display them in public schools along with related documents like the Solonic Code, the 5 Pillars of Islam, etc.

I never heard of Neo's. I think it applies only to jews for the foods.

This is what I am talking about. There are several versions of the 10C in the Bible. Just because your pastor/reverend/priest/etc only focuses on one version does not mean the other versions do not exists.

If there is any doubt, read the last verse in the quoted text below:

From the King James Bible:

Exodus 34:11-28

11 Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
15 Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
16 And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
19 All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
20 But the firstling of an *** thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
23 Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel.
24 For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.
25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
26 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.
27 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel. 28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

There are not 'many different versions'. There are TWO versions, but with minor variations. I'm surprised my question was met with such confusion.

I'll give you a brief bible class:

Moses went to get the 1st set. His brother disobeyed god and made everyone worship mother earth. Moses came down. He killed 5000 people(he spared his brother who led the mother earth thing). Moses then destroyed the 1st set.

He then walked up and got the 2nd set.

set #1, from Exodus 20:2 to 20:17:

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

set #2, from Exodus 34:12 to 34:26:

Actually I am not 100% cetain to what you are refering specifically. To my knowledge, the two different sets have nothing to do with the first set being destroyed.
The reason there is more than oen version is it depends on how you devide the commandments. Meaning in the passage from the bible they are not numbered and different groups divide it up in different ways. They all end up with ten but not the same exact ten.

^ this is what i'm talking about. look, i want an intelligent conversation. if you didn't read the bible, don't muck up the thread.

Oy vey. I feel insulted.

you never read exodis from end to end. if you did, it would be clear what i meant in my first post.

don't go to church and get a few verses spoon fed to you by your pastor, and then post here on what you 'think'. like i said, i'm looking for an intelligent conversation, with people who have read the bible.

you do not qualify.

Now now, don't point out inconsistancies.

Starscream - I think the first set is somewhat more relevent. The next time I'm seething baby goats I'll make sure not to use the mother's milk, and I'll also be sure to let my gods cool off before worshiping them ;)

how do we choose which set to ignore, and which set to follow though?
