Maybe this verse will clarify things a little:

"And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck." Mark 9:42

Homosexuality is sin. My sins are no better or worse than that unless you take this verse into consideration:

1 Corinthians 6:17-20
17 But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

It SEEMS as though sexual sins carry a little more weight according to this verse.

Those who are living in homosexual lifestyles and are raising children are teaching them that homosexuality is OK (whether they're a "good" parent or not). God says there will be a heavy price for this in Mark 9 (above).

Galatians 6:7
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."

Don't argue with me...I've just quoted the Word of God.

Noone here has said that homosexuality is not a sin. You are grasping at straws and calling people names.

Do you also believe that heterosexual non-Christians should not be parents either? After all they are living a sinful lifestyle too.
Non-Christians have never been forgiven or turned their lives around. So therefore they are not fit parents either, right?

That's EXACTLY right...Those who are living a lifestyle of sin and teaching children to do the same will have to answer for it. (Mark 9:42)

Why are any of you even arguing in any way for this? I don't get it. How much more clear can God be about homosexuality? Why would ANYONE who calls themselves a Christian defend it in ANY way?? What about the rights of the children who are being warped??

By the way, Yes, Jesus accepts us as we are, but loves us too much to allow us to stay that way. When the prodigal son came home the very first thing the father did after accepting him home was clean him up!! HELLO!!!

You guys keep talking about rights. You say that it's OK to respect someone's rights but not their way of life. This is where a lot of Christians are mixed up (not opinion). In Christ, we have no rights outside of GOD's Will. We belong to him. Any Christian who wouldn't freely give up his "rights" for the Will of GOD does not know what it truly means to be a Christian. We are supposed to be separate from the world. Different. A Royal Priesthood. A peculiar people. If the "system" says we have the right to something, that doesn't necessarily hold water with GOD. We don't have the freedom to exercise our "worldly" rights according to GOD's standards but only those rights given by HIM. The world system is irrelevant and should NEVER be the rod we use to measure ourselves. Jesus loves everyone but HATES lifestyles that are outside of His Will. Regarding children and those who would cause them to stumble read Matthew 18:6

We as Christians don't side with the world's standards. The problem I have is that you, as a Christian, are arguing for the rights of homosexuals when we as Christians should be standing up and being outspoken for the true RIGHTS of the innocent. We have a responsibility to speak out against the world system and I think the homosexual agenda is a perfect place to start.

America presently is not functioning as it was originally intended by our forefathers. America was FOUNDED on Christian principles. It was founded on the Word of GOD and BIBLICAL family values. Now, America is hung up on protecting people's rights no matter how ridiculous they are and basically attempting to take away the rights of Christians to stand up for what is TRULY right. The system looks down on us (Persecutes us) when we stand for what is right and the most troubling part of it all is that it has seeped into the Christian community (proven in this thread).

But we have no right as Christians or as a society to force them to live by our standards.
That would be like bringing back the Inquisition. We all know how much credibility that little fiasco brought to the church.

WE don't have the right to ENFORCE GOD's Will but we can and should appeal to the law of the land or support those who will based on what is moral and RIGHT.

The inquisition was not based on what was Biblically moral. It had nothing to do with protecting the innocent.

We are not living by "our" standards. We live by GOD's. And, by the way, GOD's standards apply to EVERYONE not just those who choose to live by them. GOD will make things right (hopefully soon) and the world system (and its associated "rights") will be the the first to go.

I just can't understand why my brother or sister (in Christ) would argue FOR someone's WORLDLY rights.

You know, I agree that a child raised by homosexual parents can have a distorted view of relationships, and I think it's wrong (especially) to have a child adopted into that environment. However, I must confess (being adopted myself)that I have wondered if it would really be better for a child to grow up in foster care, not really feeling a sense of permancy, belonging, or unconditional love vs. being truly loved in a permanent home, even if by gay parents. I would have to believe that the child would see the struggles and the animosity the gay parents encountered, and would come to his/her own realization that the lifestyle was not only wrong (especially if they knew the Lord), but that it was such a struggle. And if the gay parents were at all like straight parents, wouldn't they try to steer the child AWAY from something that created heartache or struggles by their own experience? I guess my biggest question is - Would it be better FOR THE CHILD to be in a permanent home where they received love and felt a sense of belonging vs. being in the system?

Hi Amie and MyJhongfist - This has been an interesting thread. I said earlier in the thread that maybe it would be better for a child to be raised in a loving home by gay parents rather than tossed around in the system, never feeling part of a family or a sense of belonging. I go back and forth on that statement because I do believe that gay people can be loving parents. However, I also believe that they are promoting a sinful lifestyle that will probably ultimately twist the morality of the child, expecially regarding the gay lifestyle. I know someone who is gay, and he really twists what the Bible says regarding homosexuality. He really tries to justify what he lives.

But there are a few other things to consider here... what about the embarrassment a child will feel when they get to the age of understanding and caring what their friends think? I have a teenager - kids can be unbelieveably cruel. That's a stress on top of all others that kids encounter today that could just put them over the edge. The second thing is that, as a parent, I don't wish to see any child raised under a roof where flagrant sinning is boasted before the world. I wouldn't want a child to be raised by someone who is a serial rapist. I wouldn't worry that the child would be raped, because that's a pedophile. But the rapist's sense of right and wrong is just as twisted, I think, as the gay persons. We can see that a gay lifestyle is wrong, and so is a rapist. But would a rapist's secret sin affect their parenting? They could be a rapist, and yet be a loving parent. Doesn't that sound like what we're trying to say when we want to think that a gay lifestyle does not pervade raising children? Sin is sin. And many sins are much more serious and do more damage than other sin. You may say that a rapist is a violent person and the gay probably isn't and that's why a rapist would not make a good parent. But isn't it really the mind, and how they think, that makes each of them sin. It's their thought process, their lack of truth, and their lack of morality that would make them bad parents. The truth is, I would like all children to have a loving home. And I think I'm trying to justify a gay home because it seems to better than "the system". But is it? We know that sin pervades our very being. Sin is much easier to keep doing once we've allowed it out, and are willing to try and justify it. So I think I'm over with RT on this one. The final thing you need to consider is this: From my experience with my husband and most males I have known, men usually have a very rigid stance on homosexuality. It's very hard for a lot of men to look past the lifestyle to see what else there is about the person. And the men who have strong feelings on this will probably never change. As woman, I think it's easier to separate the "gay" from the person, and for a man, the "gay" is the person. I am certainly not saying all men feel that way and I'm not trying to offend - that's just my opinion. What do you think?

what is a good parent ?
can a gay person be a good parent ?

If a good parent is one who : Loves their child, cares for their child--good food, kept clean, medical checkups, made to go to school--yes a gay person can be a good parent.

It is the spiritual side that is the problem. but as long as the courts do not see that they will allow gay people to adopt on the basis of what I stated above.

I think it depends on whether you think homosexuality is a sin or geneitic on how you determine your answer.Of course children are being raised in sinful godless homes all the time. But they are usually born into those homes and not placed there by the state.
Do you know any gay parents ? I don t.

wow that is a long time. I hope the bboy realizes how much he is loved when he gets older. I feel sorry for this man. i hope that through you he can see that not all Christians hate him.I do not approve of his being gay but I hope he dose not loose his son. I know some hetrosexual couples I wouldn t let raise anything let alone a child.
I do get tired of both sides using the good of the child slogan to further their own agendas.
