I'm not sure where to post this, so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong forum!

I am having a slight problem with an opinion held by someone very close and dear to me. We have moved on from being angry by the difference of opinions, and are now trying to find the truth, no matter what it may be!

Their opinion is that interracial relationships (of a romantic nature) are wrong. Absolutely, 100% wrong, no matter what the circumstances. I happen to completely disagree with that. I don't think that you can put a label on any group, no matter who they are. I don't believe that you can say that as a WHOLE, it is wrong for one group to do something, or that this group as a WHOLE should not do this.

Now, I believe that in some instances, it would not be wise for different races to marry. But in some cases, it would be perfectly fine. It just depends on the individuals, and on what God has in mind for them.

And since I mentioned God... =)

I don't believe that it says anywhere in the Bible that you should not marry into another race. He tells us not to be yoked with unbelievers. But he says nothing (that I have seen!) about sticking to only your own race.

So now is the part where everyone reading this is brought into the situation. I would like your opinions, and your knowledge. As I said before, we are searching for the truth. I would really appreciate your input on what that is. If you have a Biblical basis to back up your opinion, that would be wonderful! And if you don't feel comfortable talking about it in an open forum, feel free to send me a private message. I just want to know your heart.

Thank you!
God Bless!
Anna

I completely agree with you Anna. I do not believe God is opposed to interracial marriages at all! If I'm not mistaken, Moses married an Ethiopian woman, which would have been outside of his race. I have relatives who believe the opposite as well, and we have basically agreed to disagree, even though they have yet to come up with a scriptural basis for their belief.

God says not to marry someone of another RELIGION, but He does not say to marry someone of another race. There are several instances of people marrying outside their race in the Bible. Ruth and Boaz, Esther and Xerxes, Ishmael and Judith...

And acutally, by scientific definition, there are not different races in humans, just different skin tones.

So, if God says it's okay, who can give a reason that it isn't?

I have only ever been in interracial relationships.

I have two bi-racial daughters.

God created Adam and Eve. What color or race were they?

I believe that Adam and Eve had all of the races in them.

God did not create a Black Adam and Eve and a white Adam and Eve, a Hispanic Adam and Eve, an Asian Adam and Eve, etc...He created only one Adam and one Eve. I actually had a racist person once tell me that the Bible says that God created an Adam and Eve of each race!

I believe that we are created in God's image.

I believe that God has all the races in Him as well.

How can it be wrong then?

Here are some interesting quotes from an article on line that I found:

http://www.gospelgazette.com/gazette/2000/may/page13.shtml

"Moses married an Ethiopian woman while Patriarchy was effective and was subsequently chided by his brother and sister after Judaism had been implemented. “And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman” (Numbers 11:1). Race and skin color were issues with Miriam and Aaron for which they challenged Moses for the leadership of the nation of Israel. The race and skin color of Moses’ Ethiopian wife differed from the race and skin color of the Jews (Jeremiah 13:23). God severely rebuked Miriam and Aaron for challenging Moses for the leadership of the nation and brought leprosy upon Miriam (Numbers 11:1-16). Implicitly, God did not share the sentiments of Miriam and Aaron regarding interracial marriage, per se, as well as strenuously objected to their challenge of Moses, irrespective of the basis on which they proposed to challenge Moses. The principle here involving racial marriage (i.e., God has no investment one way or the other regarding interracial marriage) is not countermanded by any other Old or New Testament passages and is applicable today ¾ religiously."

I am also reminded of the verses that follow:

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Col. 3:11
Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

God bless,

Tammy

>>I just want to know your heart.

Rev. 7:9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

John had a vision of Heaven and in it were people from all nations, races, cultures and languages. They were all one in Christ. We know they all had the mind of Christ, and were all one in purpose and intent. As the Bible says, there were all of one mind and one accord.

I am not really so sure some of our theorys about race are even founded in fact. They were developed at a time when the world was a much bigger place. Before you could jump on a airplane and be anywhere in the world within 24 hours.

For me, I do not even see all that much proof that there is such a thing as race. Yes my wife is asian and I am anglo saxton, but what does that make the people from middle east? What is someone from India? Are they white or of the asian race? What about latin americans that have so much Spanish blood in them, what are they. What is my son who is a mixture of asian and english?

If you put someone from the Philippines, Indonesia, Mongolia, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico & some other latin country along with a native american together in a room, could you tell them apart? We have people tell us that they think my wife and I are both from mexico. No one ever thought that before I married her.

Perhaps we should look more to the Bible and the story of the tower of Babel. Before Babel, the whole earth had one language and one speech. Those of us who are united together in Christ will again have one langague. It is called the LOVE language. Thanks, JohnR7

>>Moses married an Ethiopian woman

Ethiopia is the crown jewel of africa. The queen of sheba was from ethiopia. The man who carried the cross for Jesus was from ethiopia. The last country our church will go to in Africa will be Ethiopia. The year we go there, you will know that will be the last year for Africa. From there we will will be going to another area in the world. Most likely China, but the pastor has expressed interest in the middle east also. Remember, he is 80 years young and just getting started. Thanks, JohnR7
