I remember once I was attending a support group meeting and there was a women there I knew, who was caughing. She said she had been to the doctor and they took xrays and she had pneumonia. The doctor ordered her to go home and go to bed, but she said she needed to be at that meeting.

The problem was, she kept caughing and the more she caughed the madder I got at the sickness and the devil for putting the sickness on her. So I just kept praying, determined that she was going to get better, and the sickness was going to leave her. Everyone else was just talking about whatever and not paying any attention to the fact that I was praying. After about maybe 10 min. I saw something like a shaddow come out of her and leave her. I did not know if it was a sickness or a demon, but I know it left her and I know she quit caughing.

I saw her a few days later and asked her how she was doing, and she told me the story again about going to the doctor and about the xrays he took. But she said she was ok. That was when I learned that even though you can pray and the cause of sickness leaves, the body still has to heal itself and that can take two or three weeks sometimes, before the person is totally healthy again. Later I learned that if she had been totally healed on the spot, that would have been a restoration miracle.

As far as the women is concerned, she was sick, and she got better and I suppose she is grateful for that. I never told her that I was praying for her. Thanks, JohnR7

Darn! I was going to ask you to pray for my cough to leave me. It's left over from a minor case of pneumonia I ahd three weeks ago.

But not all illness is caused by demons. Sometimes it's just natural process or organisms. It's no use trying to cast out a demon if bacteria is the culprit!

Nothing is impossible for God. Jesus is life and health and healing. He went about preaching, teaching and healing the sick. We are to be just like Jesus, everything He did, we are to do. If we do not pattern ourselves after Him, then who are we to use as an example to follow? We just need to find our way into the healing power of God, and when it starts to flow like living water God will cure whatever ails us. If we can find His love, we can find His strength, life and healing, its all apart of the same package. God has promised that He is going to finish the work that He has begun in our lives. Thanks, JohnR7

Psalm 107:19-21 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. [20] He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. [21] Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Psalm 34:19-20
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them ALL.
[20] He guards all his bones;
Not one of them is broken.

>>John, Do you believe that God ALLOWS people to be sick in some cases?

We need Him in order to really stay healthy. But I think He "allows" it only in as much as He gives us free will to choose to be healthy or sick.

Exodus 15:26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you."

I am convinced that Jesus is life and health and healing. He is our example to follow, and as far as I know, Jesus was never sick. But we have to live right for God, if we want to walk in divine health.

Deut. 7:15
And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you.

Health is a part of the blessing of God and sickness is actually a part of the curse of the law. God can cause good to come out of anything. If we get sick, God can cause good to come out of it. But I do not think He ever wants anyone to be sick. I think He wants us to be healthy. We need to be healthy to serve Him and do the work He has for us to do. If God could cause Israel to be healthy under the old covenant, then how much more can we have good health under the new covenant. We have even better promises then them.

Hebrews 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

Also, if there is one healthy person in this world, than everyone can be healthy. God is no respector of persons, He does not favor one over another. If God provides something (like good health) for one person, then He provides it for all. We just need to know how to receive what God has for us. There is no sickness in Heaven, and that is the place where God's will is always done.

Walking in divine heath has a lot to do with having the right Jesus attitude. When aids people in Africa take on the right attitude they are healed. When parents take on the attitude of faith, their children are healed. Jesus is life and health and healing. I have done a lot of study on the health He provides for us who do His will. Thanks, JohnR7

Deut. 30:19-20a
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; [20] that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days;

hmmm.. OK. I've never really understood the scriptural basis of why some people believe Christians should not get sick. Maybe you could just help me out here....

So, what do you think Paul's thorn in the flesh was? Do you think it might have been a physical ailment that God chose not to take away? I know that it says that God did not take it away because God's power could be made perfect through Paul's weakness.

Do you agree with that? And do you think God still sometimes allows us to have a thorn in the flesh for His glory?

I do agree with you Lucy. Since we live in bodies of flesh, how is it that we are to believe they will never break down, wear out, or get sick? How does one explain so many Christians with cancer, or illness at all? Lack of faith? I have a hard time believing that. Nor do I believe it is my 'choice' to be sick or not.

Paul's thorn was a messenger of satan to buffet him. from doing god's work. not a sickness.

So, it was a demon or trying to give him a hard time?

I would agree, Redeemed1. I'd love to be able to just up and decide not to have arthritis anymore. I do pray for healing because I truly believe and know that God can do that. The faith is there, I really believe God can do it. So why would some people say that I am not healed???

Hey John I've never cast out demons on anyone, but someone where I worked at tried to put fear in me by sending their demon my way the only thing is the Holy Spirit was with me awoke me out of a sound sleep to alert me only I being new to Jesus Christ didn't know what is was but it was so weird I had this gray sparkling cloud over my head and that black figure clad standing near my window and when I spoke what is this its like this thing just sucked itself out of there. I prayed to the Lord Jesus Christ and thanked him for saving me from harm. see where I used to work at there were lady's there that called thereselves witches and some of them were involved in magic. This happened about a year ago, I even talked to two preachers about this because my husband thought I was crazy, well they did set him straight. My faith in Jesus Christ if anything has gotten a lot stronger from this episode of my life. So I think anything can be done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bless You John

We believe the divine power of God is able to keep us healthy.

This is where so many people miss it. Paul said that in his weakness God is strong. That the power and the strenght be of God and not of Paul. He was put into a situation where he had to depend upon God's power at work in him. Before Paul was a christian, he could depend on his own strength and ability. After he became a christian, he learned to depend upon God. That is still the problem today. People look at the flesh and do not see the power of God at work in people. Thanks, JohnR7

That really is a wonderful testimony of the power of God at work in our lives to protect us and keep us safe. When my church sends a mission team to Africa, they come back with some wonderful stories of people who were in witchcraft that converted to christianity. Because they came to realize that God is more powerful. Thanks, JohnR7

>>Our spirits are redeemed, but our bodies are not.

Jesus had a body, just like we have, and He was able to bring His body into subjection. So can we. He came to show us the way. Now we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us in the way we are to go. Thanks, JohnR7
