true not christians see homosexuality as sin but it is. and if they want to believe the lie that its ok then well we already know what God says in his word. that he will give them over to there sinful ways. not saying they arent going to make it into to heaven. i would think though it would be by the skin of their teethe.

in Gods house there are two kinds of vessels, vessels of honor and vessels for dishonor.

And then there's people who take things out of context and insinuate that others aren't true to their faith and pretty much say that the other party is going to Hell for interpreting a few vague lines in the Old Testament concerning the laws for Hebrews that aren't even in use by practicing Christians today. Tell me, is everything you wear made of one type of fabric and do you do animal sacrifices for God? No? Hypocrite.

Love thy neighbor, cleanse the inside of your cup and realize that sin is sin. There is no measure of sin in the Lord's eyes, you could steal a peanut and you're just as bad as the guy who murdered his wife. So stop judging and putting on airs with your holier than thou attitude, because last I checked, you aren't God and we're not here to make you and the rest of your harpies happy.

Back on topic... (I'm a nice person, really! -puts away barbed wire and shovels-) :sorry:

X isn't that Christian. It does have a lot of themes drawn from the book of Revelations, but it mixes it with aspects of Japanese belief systems, like shintoism and Zen buddhism. It's interesting and turns common interpretations on its head, like the Beast being a supercomputer with '666' as its serial number, the Seals all being something of angels on earth, etc, but it's not an example of a true Christian anime. Has themes and heavy emphasis on fate (like the Calvinist idea of predestination), but it's skewed in such a way that it's not a good example of the working principles of Christianity.

I lurve it though. It's just so engrossing and deep. Now if CLAMP would just finish the manga

His and Her Circumstances is really good too. Very bittersweet, and the female lead reminds me of myself, when I fell in love for the first time. I don't think it's got any Christian themes though...

I haven't seen X, but it doesn't seem very Christian to me.

The mere presence of Christian symbols, such as the ones above, does not mean that an anime is Christian in the least bit. Look at Neon Genesis Evangelion. There's tons of Christian symbolism, but it is most definitely NOT Christian. (Just watch the movie ;), you'll see what I mean).

That's what I said. ^_^ Has aspects of Christianity thrown in, but it's not a Christian anime.

-shudder- NGE. Also interesting, but i think it kinda makes you crazy. I had to fast-forward the parts in the movie where Shinji was going insane because the frames shooting by so fast were giving me a headache.

The Anime with the most Christian symbolism I’ve seen would have to be Rurouni Kenshin. He's depicted as the savior and that the weight of the world is on his shoulders all the time. Not to mention the cross-shaped scar he has which symbolizes him always having a cross to bare.

i found this manga on Jesus, however, i would advise under strong cation to not browse around the site because of some.... other mangas.... http://www.comicsone.com/manga/jesus/
The manga in question is really well done butm, unfortunately, ends up with the apostles stealing Christ's body and faking the resurrection!

What a disappointment; it could have really been a powerful and successful work in America and Europe if they hadn't gone off like that.

Back to mainstream manga:

RUROUNI KENSHIN has been cited; Kenshin himself is a reformed samurai who carries a reverse blade (i.e., the cutting edge is on the back of his swird, no the striking edge) and goes to extreme lengths to avoid killing others. There's an upcoming story arc that is explicitly about Christians and a Christian cult in Japan.

Naru in the LOVE HINA manga and Ran in SUPER-GALS both wear crosses a lot and espouse moral values that are certainly complimentary to Christian values, yet neither has ever been formally identified as a Christian.

Chiyo-chan in AZUMANGA DAIOH certainly behaves in a Christian manner, but again, she's never come right out and identified ehrself one way or the other.

Hmm, I know this may sound a bit crazy but Goku from Dragon Ball Z/GT etc. has Christian Qualities.

I agee with you all, it would be nice if someone did do something that was uplifting to the kingdom of God while awing the audience with their animation. I myself am an animation student at the Art Institute of Washington and plan to represent Christ strongly in my work that I do. I belive that it can be done where while making a popular hit cartoon, it can have Christian characters and values that are present.... not just implied.

That particular arc gives a very Japanese picture of what they seem to think christianity might be. And it's totally unchristian. That arc actually really annoyed me because christians were so poorly depicted.

Im not sure if anyone has mention this one, katiou saint tail. I only read some of the previews and saw the opening theme. The girl in there steals from the rich and gives to the poor. I think its her friend or close relative that is a nun it shows her praying in the opening theme. Its just a real cute anime.^_^

I know only a couple people have mentioned these, but I need to as well!
~ Flying House ~
~ SuperBook ~

I used to watch those two shows ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. Seriously! I think those shows really got me into anime from a young age, but I couldn't find anything else that was any good out there, so I fell out of it for awhile.
I came back in with the Dragonball series, and I enjoyed those, espeically with the very moral and almost innocent character of Goku. It was great how he was always trying to do good and help his friends and defeat the bad guys. Why can't we have more people like that in the world?? *smile*
Now I've looked into more anime, examples being Inyuasha, Trigun, Angel Sanctuary, Harlock Saga, Wolf's Rain, etc. being some that I kind of like. Mostly from a storyline and character development standpoint though. Others like Excel Saga, Elf Princess Rain, and some others that I can't remember the names of were good, too. There are some other ones that I don't think I could even try, simply because I would not want to put some of that into my mind. *shudder*
I try not to look at anime with the question of "how christian is this going to be?" or "what kind of christian values will this have?" in my mind while watching. I've given up on that some time ago already. But I will say that as soon as they come out with some good Godly based anime show or manga, I'll be the first in line to get it!!!
Like someone said before, who knows what God could do in the hearts and minds of those Japanese artists in Japan, or even with the anime artists anywhere else. Just because it's anime, that doesn't mean it has to come from Japan.
 Keep up the good work, anime artists!!! We'll get a Godly anime before the Rapture, I just know it!!!:amen:

Alucard from Hellsing is a Christian, I recently discovered.

Interesting considering that he is a vampire, and that crosses still hurt him.

The way the series depicts it, is that just because you are born a being of darkness doesnt mean you cant choose to follow the light.

Of course, who but Jesus Christ could redeem even the undead ;)

however, if he is a vampire who became a christian wouldnt you think that Jesus could tranform him to a human state? and if the cross still hurt him then maybe the cross doesnt have any sort of heavenly power but demonic? if you know anything about demons is that they dont get along with each other and sometimes even fight each other.
