We had the fires of '98, now this season....the 'Era of Water and Wind'. :D :p

This will be the 3rd hurricane to hit Florida this season. In addition, we have recieved above normal rainfall for the last several months.

Enough already!!! :p :D
Looks like I might be in the path of this one. Thank goodness I live far enough inland that it is predicted to be a tropical depression by the time it arrives here.

Heh...a tropical depression here...we get those a lot.

Well I happen to live in the direct path of this hurricane (The Bahamas). I live on the small island (the island of New Providence) that is right next to the biggest island (Andros) on the map. Needless to say we've already secured our home and have supplies on hand. Since we're to be hit directly all of my fellow Bahamians are preparing for the worst. All of our businesses are already closed since mid-day today and all learning institutions are closed as well (had to leave campus after one class today).

So in all I think all of us here in The Bahamas are fully prepared for Hurricane Frances at the moment. Only thing left now to do is to hope all of my family and friends pull this category four hurricane.

I live in North Carolina, and there's a chance it could turn northward and head straight here. After Hurricane Hugo in 1989 that's something I don't want to experience again. And Florida has already been hit by two hurricanes this year and certinaly doesn't need a 3rd.

I hope and pray that it turns completely out to sea and doesn't affect anyone at all.

meh, I survived Charley and I'll survive Frances. Only this time I have a digital camera :D Once the power comes on a few days after the storm is over hopefully I'll have some cool pictures. Only thing I'm worried about is finding a safe place for my new car, there are so many big trees and awesome landscaping at my apartments that I doubt a safe spot exists. Charley messed up quite a few trees here, Frances will pick off all the damaged ones.

Looks like it is headed straight towards Orlando, Charley was only a cat1-2 when it hit Apopka but Frances should still be a 3-4, possibly even a 5. Everybody at work was talking about it today, said it was like a 20 hour storm. It is pretty friggen big, looks like it could almost cover all of Florida.

After all the years living here in Florida, and seeing so many hurricanes, one would think I am used to them by now. Like all the people around me at present, I still feel a sense of apprehension of the approach of this one. We have spent the night preparing and have just about everything in place, but I still find myself glued to the television watching for more news of it wondering what, if anything, I should do differently.

I do too but like always, there will be a few stubborn people who will stay to stick it out... :sigh:
There are those here. I'm in Cocoa, and I'm leaving for Virginia in an hour.
All of my coworkers are staying except for 2. A few of them bragged about it, and said they were going to some bar to party.
I warned them, and said they were crazy!

I was here for the fires in '98, did you remember that squah of thunderstorms that swept through the state?
They brung in so many tornados.

Well that was a thin line of red(on the radar) and yellow. This hurricane is going to be a massive ball of red and yellow!
Tornados, vehicles being tossed around like toy cars.

Let's see the first person to post some 'end times' nonsense or a Bible Code with the name Frances & Florida & 2004 in it.
I believe that bad storms like this are generated by mans sin.
Just the other day I heard 2 radio commercials against date rape, by drugging the victom.
That means there has been alot of rapes in the area to get a message like that.

Tell me about it!

Before Charlie we had Bonnie, which casued much destruction state-wide....and that one was small compared to this one.

Edited to add - I got a bad gut feeling about this one.
