Good question, GEL!

Well, first off, there is Archangel Michael, and there is Gabriel.

Then there are Scripture verses such as:

Matt. 28:2, 3
And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.

Mark 16:5, 6
And entering the tomb, they was a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here . . ." (I believe him to be an angel because it corroborates with the other gospels.)

Luke 24:4-7
And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! . . .

My conclusion from Scripture is that angels are men. And since they are created creatures in Heaven (except the 1/3 that fell, of course), they are ageless, just as we will be one day when we are finally in Heaven and receive our glorified bodies. Praise God!

Pat

Hello, rpggal:

The Bible mentions the works of both angels by name. Here are several verses taken from the NKJV that speak of them by name.

Jude v.9
Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

Rev. 12:7
And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought . . .

Luke 1:26, 27
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

If you're interested, there are other verses in the Bible that refer to them that you might want to study.

Blessings,

Pat

Am not an expert in Hebrew or Greek, but found the following in the New Strong's Concise Dictionary of the words in the Greek Testament:

1. Referring to the "two men" in Luke 24:4, the Greek Testament definition is as follows:

Page 8 of the Greek Testament (New Strong's Concise Dictionary), #435.
aner, an-ayr; a prim. word; a man (prop. as an indiv. male); --- fellow, husband, man, sir.

2. From the Greek Testament, the word "Gabriel" which has a Hebrew meaning referred the name back to the Hebrew text. (See page 18 of the Greek Testament, #1043 (gab-ree-ale), of Heb. or. [1403]; Gabriel an archangel: -- Gabriel.

From the New Strong's Concise Dictionary of the words in the Hebrew Bible, page 25, #1403:

Gabriyel, Gab-ree-ale; from 1397 and 410; man of God; Gabriel, and archangel:-- Gabriel.

#1397: geber, gheh -ber; from 1396; prop. a valiant man or warrior; gen. a person simply:-- every one, man, x mighty.

#410: el. ale; short. from 352; strength; as adj. mighty; espec. the Almighty (but used also of any deity):-- God (god), x goodly, x great, idol, might (-y one), power, strong. Comp. names in "-el"

Whew!!! I'm glad I'm done! (An aside to looking at the meaning of "he.")

Good posts everyone!
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him ; for we shall see him as he is.

This verse to me does not seem like we will be ageless. Is it possible we will "be like HIM"????? In age also???

GEL,

I think Phillipians 3:20-21 explains that: "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself."
The New King James Version, (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers) 1998, c1982.

God Bless

the only verse ever used to say angles are sexless does not say that. it says they are not given in marriage.
he was addressing the fact that when we are in heavon we wont need to reproduce to keep our people alive, our generation moving forward, but well be as the angles, and live forever, we dont have to worry of needing to have a son or daughter.
yet we will have sons and daughters.
gen. 9.12 perpetual generations. there will be generations produced forever.
as many other scriptures prove as well.
ex. 27.21, lev. 3.17, 6.18, 7.36, 10.9, 23.14,41, num. 10.8, 15.15, 18.23.
and a thousand generations, meaning perpetual.
dt. 7.9, 1 chr. 16.15, ps. 105.8

jude 6-7 clearly says angles commited fornication.
how can an angle commit fornication if he is sexless?

not once in scripture is a woman angle mentioned.

psalm 22:3

You said >jude 6-7 clearly says angles commited fornication.

Verse 7 tells us that Sodom and Gomorrha committed fornication, not the angels that were put in everlasting chains under darkness until the day of judgment !

Angels are sexless(genitles), and "never - ever" had sex with other angels nor especially with any woman.

Angels are gender specific though, and we can see that they are of the gender of a male throughout the Word of God.

You're welcome, Psalms ~ we Christians are all in the process of growing spiritually to know our God better. You sound like you're well on your way . . . and what a blessing to have a mentor!

I would suggest that angels are sex-less, as the reason that there are males and females of (almost) every animal, is for the purpose of reproduction. Now clearly, as Hervey has shown, angels do not reproduce - they were all created by God. So, to talk about whether angels are male or female is irrelevant. All spiritual beings are represented as male due to the limitations of language - we only have the words 'he' and 'she' - there isn't an equivalent word for a sex-less person!

Hervey and Stevie, your comments were even more excellent!
Thanks for the info.

Inclusive psalms, I'm younger than you (muhahaha) but methinks me has the right to say that that 50 year old guy is a bit wack for making such comments about Jude 5,6 don't you think?

cmmon man read it again. Verse 6 is about the Angels, verse 7 bout those ppl in Soddom and Gor... and verse 8 says those heretic will be like those in 6 n 7.

Well I think it is important to understand that angels are not "men". They do however often appear most often to "men" as "men", but they also appeared as agents od destruction (Gen.19:13, 2 Sam 24:16, 2 Kings 19:35, etc.). They are simply agents of the Lord that were "created" to go about doing the will of God. Except for the 1/3 that fell. They are mentioned 300 times throughout the Bible in dreams, in person, and in visions. Animals could notice them before humans could (Numbers 22:22). Angels are pretty neat to study. I think the main reason they appeared as men is to be able to deliver a message to men. In those days men would not listen to women commonly, and the best way to get a message to someon is to send a powerful messenger to them. Hope I've helped!
