Tribes Vengence... I fear it could be a sleeper hit. It just as that "thing."

Anyway, HL2 worries me aswell. I mean, it looks awesome. But alot of the game looked REALLY boring. Lots of tedious work, me thinks.

This is just judging from video's, ofcourse. It hurts me to say it (because Its still number 1 on my most anticipated games list).

Mr. Dude, just wondering. Do you own a console?

I think HALO 2 is going to be game of the year since everyone's all hyped up about it...

I mean, they're showing footage of it in theaters!!!

Where will Doom 3 and HL2 be come Nov. 9??

Still, I'm starting to like what I'm seeing in HL2!!!

I just cant get whay everyone likes about Doom 3 though...

 uh, yeah! Of course Halo 2 is going to be the game of the year (by almost everybody standards). It will (hopefully, I haven't played any beta versions) surpass Halo in almost every way, and Halo is still an amazing game. All the new features will be endless....:D

when halo came out the first thing that i hoped and dreamed they would do in the second one is to make it so you can hold 2 weapons at once. then when i was playing conflict desert storm they had an rpg on the back on one of there trucks and then on i hoped they would incorporate an rpg gun on the bed of its trucks and they did both of those. so for this game my hopes and dreams came true. i can understand the the tedious stuff though i mean that might slow it down some but thats ok im sure its going to pretty stinkin awesome all around.

Halo has indeed raised the bar for the industry. Vehicles are now expected in many FPS games.

On a side note... Through serious study of the game, the E3 trailer, and the Halo 2 gameplay footage, I may have found out a possible event or two at the beginning of Halo2. Anyone up for discussing that?

I suppose with all the praise for it, I'll pick up a copy this weekend and give it a try. Even though I actually bought my xbox for Fable, I know many who bought theirs for Halo. Plus I'm wanting to start getting into some of the xbox live tactical shooters but need to hone my console shooter skills and figure Halo would be perfect for that.

By the way, what would be a good tactical team-based shooter to play on Live?

Halo will be ok for getting used to the control scheme required due to no mouse and keyboard, but as far as tactical shooters, pick up one of the Rainbow Six 3 games. If you have some people to play with that know what is going on, they are great fun.

you know i hope that they dont push back the date of its release again. that would totally blow.

It never was pushed back. Bungie NEVER realeses dates untill they are about to launch, they got burned on that with thier fisrt big name game. Magazines and stores were mistaken and optimistic when they said it ould be out 2003.

Yep. I'm thinking that a few things from the first game carry on. I have a few things for you to think about...

1. All the level names a very concise and refer to something rather obvious. The Pilllar Of Autumn, Halo, Captain Keyes, etc. However, there is one level that seems to defy this. Two Betrayals.

In two betrayals, the Guilty Spark betrays The Master Chief. One problem...

Who is the second Betrayal?

There isn't really too many other characters... Except for Cortana... In fact, those are the only Characters who survive. Cortana, Chief, and Guilty Spark. Seeing as Chief can't really betray himself... ;)

Second, Cortana changes subtly, yet dramatically in Halo 1.

Beginning: Almost always talks calm. Cool and Controlled.

When she plugs in to Halo's control room, she changes color AND character. After that, she gets slightly unfocused, and is excited much of the time.

A comment posted at bungie...

http://halosm.bungie.org/story/newssearch.html?newsitem=94

"If the rules of rampancy follow from what was given in the Marathon trilogy, then AIs "need a planetary sized network of computers in order to grow", and that when capable of doing so, rampant systems "expand with exponential vivacity."

It gets even more interesting from there on...

It also makes a comment on how Cortana worked wonders against the covanent fleet at the start, arriving at Halo. I wonder how much damage could be done if she got ahold of a Covanent Cruiser...

Very good ideas, they sound believable

Just to reply to that last comment, she did alot of damage when she got ahold of the Ascendent Justice, a Covanent flagship. She rewired the weapons systems (plasma canons), so they were like, ten times better. She took out two or three Convanent crusiers before she had to bail.
I know this from the Halo book seris. All three are under Microsoft and Bungie, so they're credable. They cover the Fall of Reach, Halo (the game) as a book, and the time right after Halo to just before Halo 2. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?WRD=Halo&userid=175Wyvu9Xy Look at the first three books :)

From Gamepro.com:
http://www.gamepro.com/computer/pc/games/news/37768.shtml

Gamer's eager "release it already" anticipation for Half-Life 2 may be let down yet again, as EB Games has sent an e-mail to Half-Life 2 pre-order customers saying that the game will be pushed back to November.

"We are writing to let you know that we have changed the projected ship date for Half-Life 2 to November, 1st 2004. The publisher did not provide us with a specific date so this is our best estimate only and should not be considered firm. We will update this date again as we receive new information," read the foreboding e-mail.

Since the message says that the publisher did not provide a "specific date," it implies that a general date was given, prompting the push back of the projected launch. Half-Life 2 has seen a bumpy road to its debut, with the sensational delay of the game last year due to hackers stealing the source code. While a holiday release is very likely at this point, the silence from Valve surrounding the game means anything goes--including further delays.
