i think it depends on to whom you are witnessing. I have a few friends to whom i can do the more confrontaional witnessing, but to many, i know that's what leads them away. Just assure you pray, and allow God to use you to do his work in that manner. The verse i always keep in mind for that is...
matthew 10:19-21 "do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the spirit of your father speaking through you."

god bless

I think sharing God's word in a loving manner and then living it is the most effective way. The Bible says that, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of Christ." So I believe to reach a person it is very imperative that we share God's word with them. However, I don't believe we should beat a person over the head with the word of God. You know what I mean? I don't think we should take scriptures and continually point out to people how they're sinning. That has it's place, but I feel in order to win someone to Christ you have to use encouraging scriptures. Since we've been called to be "Fishers of men (and women)" then we have to use the right "bait" in the right circumstance. If the fish aren't being attracted to the bait they're not to accept it.

When I was a carpet layer I worked for a small carpet shop. I used this method to win a co-worker over to Christ. I noticed my friend used to listen to a radio on the job site everyday, so I asked him if I could listen to some of my stations. He agreed to allow me to listen to what I wanted for half the day and he the other half. Well, on my half of the day I made sure he heard really good sermons from people like Greg Laurie, Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley, Chuck Smith among others and good contemporary Christian music too. It got to the point where all he wanted to listen to was what I listened too! I also began calling everyone around the shop "sir" or "maam" and I also began carrying my other co-workers' tooboxes from our trucks onto the job site. This really blew everyone away. Not many of these people were used to this kind of behavior. Eventually everyone was walking around calling one another sir and maam and carrying everyone else's tool boxes.

Well, I my co-worker soon came to my church, gave his life to Christ and I had the pleasure of discipling him. What an honor that was I am so greatful to our great Lord for that opportunity.

YBIC,
Bob

I totally agree. My Jewish inlaws for example - in regards to the new testament- life decisions made aware through conversation. Sometimes preach but very subtle, unintrusive and then direct to a point. I am in and out before they catch on, attempting to plant good seeds here and there.. Talk about a delicate balance. Any other way is sure to be turned a deaf ear. Hey, no one else is going to do it though bec most are too intimidated by them. They come from a mindset that "faith" is "religion by definition. Religion being a ideology for the simple-minded (wrong!). I am not cramming it down anyone's throat, it's ultimately their decision. Jam the wedge in too hard and watch it snap off.

I believe it was Francis of Assisi who said "Preach the Gospel whenever you can, and use words if necessary." Okay, it may not be an accurate quote, but you get the gis of it. I agree that we should lead a life that exemplifies the Gospel.
Often, just chatting in an aisle or line at a store and finding a common ground can open doors to evangelize. This happens a lot with me ... but I suppose it helps that I'm a chatter-box who has few qualms about talking to strangers LOL
