The SOG if you are cut out for it, is the only way to go. Unfortunately most do not find out till it hits if they are cut out or not. Been there, done that, 12B, not real proud of things I had to do but I made it. Alot I knew did not? Anyway, to anyone that is serious and is going to do it, may God be with you and you will forever be in my prayers just like all those I served with. Anybody around that was in Swabish Hall or Bad Tolz in or around 78? 10th SF Group and I corps. Hello guys if your out there!

Hey, I do not know if you got my thank you or not for that info, it helped greatly. anyway if anybody has a quick cheat sheet to get around in here I would use it. I went to the FAO's but I guess because I am brand new to the computer and internet, some of the answers were over my head. I got common sense and learn quick but I've only been on a comp keyboard about 4 hours in my life. I type 120 wpm on an elec typewriter but there is a little more here. Anyway I'm babbling but am asking for a little help. Thanks and oh yeah if it was a m14, 16, or a LAW I could handle it? lol

AGAIN SILENTPOET THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS AND MAY YOU HAVE A BLESSED DAY

Well as an update and since it applies to my getting an 18x contract or other Army Special Operations type jobs, I took the ASVAB tonight.

Don't know my line scores yet(I will by the end of this week), but I should be good to go as I scored in the 98th percentile. Next step is to loose more weight so I can make it through meps. Rucking is going good. Doing 2-4 miles each day. For my current puposes of weight loss it is better than running as I can ruck longer time wise than I can run. On the shorter days(ie the 2mile days) I make it harder by wearing sweats and picking a route with even more hills.

Ranger schoo - probably the "easiest" of the above named units to get into (I'll get slammed for that, I know)

sorry but this does deserve a severe beating.
My grandpa was a ranger captain during vietnam
and I'm heading to ranger school.
He said its the most difficult training ever.
during training for two weeks your only allowed 1 hour of sleep and 1 meal a day. while participating in combat exercises.
They had a special on Ranger School on the history channel.
60% dropout with in the first week.
you can get kicked out for making just one mistake.
and If the Rangers our the Best of the Best " The United States Airborne Army Rangers our the Best and Most Elite Light Infantry Unit in the World"
then I think their training would be the thoughest

TO add to what you had to say, Col JD Lock in his book on Ranger school said that two Vietnam Veterans said Ranger school was by far tougher than Vietnam. Ain't none of the special operations schools easy from what I have heard and read. Only Ranger I personally know went before there was a Ranger school(if I am not off on my dates). He is a Korean War Veteran.

1st Ranger Bn, Ranger School Class 3-87 (winter class). I've been out a while now.

I have read this a couple of times now and decided not to slam you Mr. Hobbs :) Ranger School just may be easier to get into. But I don't think you were saying it is easy, so that's cool. I weighed 155 lbs. when I started and only 115 lbs. when I graduated. But I wouldn't trade that experience for anything, as I already have Christ. I was the Guideon bearer for my class and got to keep on of the guideons.

Oh yeah, 8ID LRSD in Germany, but that isn't really the same.:D
