Personally, even if I was physically able, I would be too tempted training alongside men. I guess if it was separate and women were allowed to have at least some type of sanitation for that time of the month, it might be okay. But if I was training with a bunch of good looking guys I would be lusting and then I would not be able to do what I was supposed to do and I"d just get kicked out.

Military guys drive me wild lol. I think it's a very honorable thing to do and a man who wants to defend his country and his family as well is just sexy. Also, uniforms are sexy as well :)

You know, I don't mind woman being in the military, but lets say two are on a recon mission, and you don't want any traces of you being there, and then you would have to take a well you know...go #2, in a plastic bag, and the guy goes, and he is like 5 feet from your face...also, having to change into BDUs after coming ashore HAHO or HALO insertion into the water, and your naked, a girl...would be very hard to...not look at :). Thats to those girls who want to be in the Special Forces...yall don't get special liberties.

So Spec Ops warriors let that come between them and the mission?

I doubt it...

Exactly what I was thinking. We have women that use the same lockers that we do, and of course there's always the few minutes of joking while we change into overalls but when we get to work, there isn't time to BS. I doubt on a mission where your life is on the line every second you're going to stop and gander.

There have been many dedicated men and women (not stating specifically military) who have been sidetracked due to someone of the opposite sex.

Just when you say that it won't happen--it will.

I think it is always a possibility. Even with a small possibility, it can lead to trouble.

Would you like to talk to a few Navy SEALs who think different?

This was one of the findings of the MoD report into the possibility of the British Army putting women on the front line with men. I've said this in the "Women in the Military" as well.
But with Spec Ops... I just don't think you'll have the time!

I should probably do it quick, because if they're standing around gawking at women they're not going to live very long.

Any Aussie or Brit servicemen in here? Any SAS, Royal Marines, commandos or any such that can say so in public? Anyway, my enlistment is almost done now...joining up with TSP (Training Support Platoon) in Vic, Australia... which is a regiment with the main responsibility of playing the enemy party in training exercises, so they have a bit of fun. If anyone gets given the opportunity, I'd highly recommend doing any training modules/ overseas deployment in Australia so you can have a chance at going through some of our training.

Ex. Long Look, I think it's called. We send over a few of our guys, and receive a few of yours in return for about six months. I know a few people who have done it, and say that even if there's the slightest chance of getting on Long Look, go for it!

The politically correct mindset will gradually tear away at the ability of our military to win wars. Combat is not a place for social experimentation.

My best friend and training buddy is going out to Coronado for indoc at BUD/S in three weeks. He'll be with class 253. I'm contracted and I'll be at BUD/S in about a year from now. (He got in first because I had to finish up college.) We've been training for this for about 6 years now... its about time.

As a side note: If you hear someone saying they were in the SEAL teams, or that they were a Ranger, or they were in CAG (delta) or they were this or that... remember that 9 times out of 10 they're lying. There are alot of phonies out there...

Congrats on the contract. Good luck to you and your friend

One of the best quotes I have seen about what I quoted above is this "There were about 2,000 Navy SEALS in Vietnam and I have met all 20,000 of them"

Thanks silentpoet,

Yea, what you wrote there at the end is pretty funny, (and sad.) And actually there were only approx. 500 SEALs during the Vietnam time period, so that number is even less than 2,000. Its a shame that so many people lie about that stuff. It gets bad when news outlets report on *insert topic here* about some "Navy SEAL", when in fact the guy wouldn't know a SEAL from walrus. Like I said... 9 times out of 10 its bogus.

take care

I may have messed up the quote as far as the exact numbers, but the gist is there. I have known at least one poser myself. Of course it was at an age when I would not have questioned him because he was somebody me and my cousin sort of looked up to. Looking back he had some stories pretty high on the BS scale.

I plan on going in either 18x, 91w or even 11b myself(the last two possibly with airborne or even option 40). I just want to serve, not for the title but for the job. Still working on dropping weight. PT numbers are ok(not overall, but as a starting point), but running is my problem. Even rucking is ok as far as the short distances I have done it. On the practice asvab at the recruiters, I aced it(did not miss one question, got lucky on one or two). So he said I should be good to go as far as that.

Well, I wish you the best of strength in the path that God leads you down.

If you need any suggestions on running, or if you would like a PT program, just PM me your scores/times and I'll write one up for you. Like I said, I've been doing this running/swimming/PTing thing for about 6 years now... and it does take some time. But I'll be more than happy to help out in any way that I can.

Quite a few genuine Rangers around my neck of the woods, military community and all. Though there are plenty that lie, but it's pretty easy to tell which ones.

Years ago, back in my wilder days, my girlfriends and I met a couple of guys in a bar claiming to be SEALs on some sort of top secret business at the Army base (Ft. Campbell). LOL, of course we laughed at them and didn't believe a word they said, but they all three had matching tattoos on their stomachs that were SEAL related (a trident with some design around it that I didn't check out too closely)...not saying they were genuine (I'm quite sure they weren't), but it's really funny what lengths some guys will go to to convince others they're part of one of the elite military forces.

:)
