This is my fourth computer I have owned and another one my sister bought a Packard Smell :( which I upgraded cards in it later and now it sits on my floor where it belongs as a footstool jk
The first one I bought was through a store that also sold other household items :( It was a 486/33 Mhz tower that I had to buy the optional CD-ROM drive so as to play games on it. And my second was a Acer notebook which I traded for this one I am using which someone else built. I was ripped off in the deal as I didn't really check everything out. All I could see was the 933 Mhz vs the 650 Mhz in my notebook. Of course what i got was a AMD Duron which is a low-end chip which I traded a Pentium III w/ step something, I forget, and my notebook had a CDRW and of course the screen  which I didn't get a monitor in the exchange. The power cord for the notebook died later. The battery was dead in it and I did tell him about that. I have another computer that I bought from the person that sold the other computers to my former employer. That one is a 650 Mhz Pentium III tower. And I am supposed to be computer literate ;) I have upgraded computers before. I have replaced a couple mother boards and did other upgrades as well.
My experience is this in the past and might be in some cases now when you buy a computer in a store front where they sell premade computer systems. That is many of the components are low-end, but that isn't as true now adays though, but I would make sure you know what you are getting and compare before buying. You can always buy it with the low-end components and then buy the best or at least better ones cheaper some where else and install them yourself. Even buy one without the Monitor and buy that else where.

Mine was created by the big bang of the nuclear explosion at Hiroshima. All the radioactive dust from that singularity collected and eventually evolved into the complex machine in front of me.
