50,000 Iranians Make a Decision to Follow Jesus.

50,000 Iranians Make a Decision to Follow Jesus

SAN JOSE, CA, June 14, 2004 – International Antioch MinistriesTM (IAM) has won over 50,000 Iranian Muslims to Christ through the ministry's satellite TV broadcast since it first aired in 2002. Seen in “prime time” throughout the Islamic Republic of Iran, IAM's ICTV (Iranian Christian TVTM), offers ten hours of programming each week, including: a live, call-in pastoral show; uplifting worship and praise and discipleship instruction. IAM's ICTV is the much loved “home church” for many within closed Muslim countries who dare not worship openly, as well as reaching the globally dispersed Iranian community. Through visions, dreams, and miracles, the Lord confirms the message of the Gospel broadcast daily on ICTV. As a result, each week, Muslims give their hearts to Christ through IAM's ICTV, both on the air and afterwards as IAM ministers to hundreds of calls and emails. Just in the past six months, IAM has seen an three-fold increase in calls, emails and faxes from Iranians living within Iran and worldwide, showing how powerfully the Lord is fulfilling His promise: “I will set my throne in Elam [Iran],” says the Lord, “and I will destroy its king and princes. But in the latter days I will restore the fortunes of Elam [Iran],” says the Lord. (Jeremiah 49:38-39 NLT)

IAM also welcomes its first ministry partner, Sammy Tippit Ministries, which is now sharing the precious gospel of Jesus Christ through IAM's ICTV. Pastor Tippit presents his powerful preaching and programs over IAM's ICTV for one hour each week, translated into Farsi (Iranian).

“The work to evangelize in Iran first began in 1830, by American missionaries. By 1979, nearly 150 years later, only 3,000 evangelical Christians lived in an Iranian population of 50 million,” explained IAM's founder, Pastor Hormoz Shariat, PhD.

“In just two years, we estimate over 50,000 Iranian Muslims have accepted Christianity through IAM’s satellite TV ministry. Many of these new Christians are facing imprisonment, persecution, loss of employment and martyrdom. With the generous support of ministries such as Voice of the Martyrs and Sammy Tippit Ministries, as well as individual donations, IAM is able to maintain and expand our vital work. As former Muslims from the Middle East, we are able to reach out to millions of Muslims and bring them to the light of Christ. We would be delighted to help other churches and ministries reach Muslims in the 10/40 window by advising them as well as assisting with media production and literature translation. We would also like to thank our donors and supporters, without whom this great work could not continue.”

Broadcast in the Iranian language (Farsi), Farsi speakers can learn more about IAM's ICTV, including broadcast times and stations, at www.ic-tv.com, while English speakers can learn more about IAM and its broadcast ministry at its web site: www.iam-online.net.

About International Antioch Ministries (IAM)TM

Personally, I'd like to convert Iranians to some kind of Zoot Worship religion. Persian girls are loveliness extreme.

Looking for other sources for this claim, we have...
Christian Broadcasting Network - http://cbn.org/700club/profiles/hormoz_shariat.asp

That's about all I can find.

But then, on the other hand, it's not like many news agencies would take notice. And Christians wouldn't lie or exaggerate about such a thing, would they?

wUAHAHAHA YOU wish this was true. I think that US will become a muslim state faster than you convert 5 Iranians to your faith...
I agree with you Sahaba. Iran is very very very Muslim. Much more so than America is Christian. I know quite a few Muslim Iranians that live in Los Angeles and I think they would very much agree very much with what Sahaba is asserting here. Besides, it isnt Islam the dissidents want to overthrow in Iran, but the government.

What good is replacing one monotheistic religion with another anyway?

Ive seen more Iranian atheist sites than Iranian Christian sites:

Dear Ones,
Please be patient (and gentle!!) with me, as this is my VERY FIRST POST to a forum - ever!! But my husband saw this discussion and I was delighted that people are interested in IAM's ministry.

I am the volunteer PR gal for IAM and am writing as myself, not as an "official" from the ministry. I was raised in a secular Jewish home, confirmed in Temple at 16, lived in Jerusalem/Al Quds for a year doing archaeological site surveys, and earned my M.A. in Near Eastern (Islamic) Studies from UC Berkeley, with an emphasis on Iran and Central Asia. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in 1996. I struggle with a rare, incurable and chronic autoimmune disorder of the blood, and having faced death many times, it is God's mercy, and the opportunity to serve Him, that keeps me going.

I met Pastor Hormoz of IAM when I spoke at a Christian Business Leader's dinner. My husband and I then offered our services to the minstry on a volunteer basis (our bread-and-butter is our high-tech PR & marcom consulting).

The figure quoted in this news release is actually conservative. It is substantiated by analysis of the amount of response that has flooded the ministry for the past two years, as well as other data I cannot discuss (persecution of converts in Iran is real - people have lost homes, jobs, spouses, children and face possible imprisonment and even death). I do not put out a news release unless I myself am convinced of its accuracy. The situation in Iran is changing dramatically, and as a youthful country, many are questioning what they have been taught and why information about other faiths is denied them.

I have wept as I have heard/read the testimonies of those who have accepted Christ through IAM's live, call-in pastoral satellite broadcast. The joy and peace that Iranian Muslims are finding with Christ is truly inspiring. Pastor Hormoz is one of the finest human beings I have ever met, and his staff - all converts from Islam - are truly filled with the Holy Spirit. The church he and his wife founded out of their home in 1987, is now the Iranian Christian Church - the largest affiliated church of former (Iranian) Muslims outside of Tehran, Iran. IAM also is involved in humanitarian efforts, including in Bam, Iran, trains evangelists and has a strong youth movement. They also produce Iranian language evangelistic materials, including a video on Jesus.

While I respect all religions, I also believe that people have the right to choose their faith. All IAM is doing is bringing the Gospel to people hungry for God's word, and the fact that they are choosing to follow Christ is God's work - not ours. I have seen reports of Iranian Muslims seeing Jesus in visions and dreams when they reach out and cry to God to reveal Himself (Islam believes Jesus was a prophet, not divine, and was not crucified - Islam also has no guarantee of salvation) and I have heard people weep on the air as the peace of Jesus fills their being. I wish I could share with you some of the inspiring testimonies IAM receives every day.

God bless you all, and thank you for your interest in IAM's work. We see ourselves as servants of the Lord and give Him all the glory. And for what it is worth, I put my personal reputation and integrity behind IAM's news.

Yours in Christ, Maxine
(maybe next time I'll learn the icons and stuff!)

God Bless you :)
See, it's true. Iranian Muslims ARE indeed coming to Christ! ON THEIR OWN.
Missionaries present the word. The Holy Spirit cultivates it in the heart and then that individual with their free will must choose to accept Christ or decline.

Three words - CNN's Rudi Bakhtiar.

Rrrrraaaarrrrwwww!

I lived in Iran as a boy. Iran is the natural ally of the United States in the middle east. They value education, cosmopolitanism and freedom. Unfortunately, the Mullahs were the only faction with the power to overthrow and replace the corrupt regime of the Shah.

I don't care if it means a conversion of the entire nation (as long as it's not to some fundamentalist YEC version of Christianity), we need to get Iran back in our fold. Secularlist majority Islamic state or Secularist Christian state. Who cares. The U.S. needs as many allies as we can muster.
