I, personally feel the difference between the two goes something like this. Trust - you trust someone until they do something to break that trust. Faith - Faith is of God, He never does anything to break a trust. Faith is believing with your whole heart in God, believing His Word, knowing that if you are living in His will, He will take care of you. Could anyone or anything destroy your faith in God or His Son Jesus Christ? If not then you have the kind of faith that is pleasing to God. While we also trust God, I just feel , faith is a much deeper comittment. While I trust God to lead me in right directions perhaps I will not always understand them, then my faith takes over and lets me do as He directs. Hope I have been able to share with you adequately how I feel about the difference between faith and trust. Dee

I agree, but let me throw a different pitch for you to hit:

Trust is something earned and something that grows. You trust someone because they have doen something to earn that trust. It can stregthen or weaken depending on that person and their future actions.

Faith is exactly what the Bible says it is (Hebrew 11:1) "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." It is blindly believing or "trusting" in something. Kinda like a chair you have faith that when you sit in any chair that it will support you...until...you sit down one day and the chair breaks and you fall to the ground. That faith now turns to a trust that has weakened a bit because you are still going to beleive that "most" chairs will support you, but before you sit down you will make sure that it is strong enough.

The only difference between the chair and God is that God will never break or let you down, so you will continue to blindly trust and follow Him. I hope I have given you a clearer understanding of the two very similar words.

Have a great day and peace be with you!

Faith is believing in something that we cannot see. (I believe it does come from God). Trust is something that grows out of a relationship of love.

I think with both of these TRUST and FAITH we are to approach them like a little child.

I think about the relationship with my own children. They do not doubt my existence. They do not question if I will care for them or not. They know that I will never leave them.

In my own walk I struggled a lot with both of these. I did not have a loving home and I did not know how to trust anyone. I think both of these come with time. As we get to know the Lord and his nature He proves to all of us that He is Faithful. He is trustworthy. :)

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" Hebrews 11:1

"We live by faith, not by sight" 2Corinthians 5:7

This is my trust scripture:

"Never will I leave you, Never will I forsake you."

God Bless,
Roberta

Thank you ALL for your contribution and for helping me understand the difference between faith and trust.

I am examining my own faith and trust in God and have found that it is very weak in these two areas. But then again I haven't spent that much time with Him to build up my faith so levels are low.

But thank you everyone for your words of wisdom! I really appreciate them! :D
