We are going to put half-a-million [children] out on the street, so I can get my $80,000 [tax cut]," Clinton said, referring to the amount he expects to save under the Bush tax-cut plan. President Clinton reportedly earned $9.5 million in 2002 in speaking fees alone.

In two years of Bush we went from surplus to record debt, I find that amazing, given the Old Republican party would have loved that, but the New Republicans do not care about such things, and they are not the party of Barry Goldwater anymore. Tax cuts for the rich only help the rich and no one else, and for the average American wage earner they may be able to buy another case of beer a mouth, that is about it, while everything else like Parks are now going to tack on user fees and so forth to shift the tax to the poor away from the rich. That is really sick.

Across the board tax cuts, are somehow always turned into tax cuts for the rich by the other side. I don't get it. I personally like my tax cut. The deficits are caused by this war on terror that we just so happen to be involved in since 9-11, in case people have forgotten, it cost alot of money to change the airline industry, put all the reserves that are now activated on active duty, fight two wars that aren't over, ect ect.

Wrong again, the federal deficit is caused by more government spending in all government programs, not only ones that were affected by 9/11. President Bush has already increased government spending more than even Bill Clinton did during his whole term in office. I posted a thread a while back showing that the federal government is going to have a $44.1 trillion deficit in a few years thanks in part to Bush's spending addiction.

Hmmm...I work for the National Park Service, and our budgets were cut across the board, to a point of making it difficult to do our basic job. We're told to expect more cuts this coming October. I wonder where our increase went...
