Being an Australian myself I had to give this gay marriage ban a thumbs up! But I also support the Government's decision to give gay couples superannuation rights (in the news a few days ago)
Hi Neenie!

Im glad that in Australia your Prime minister has done the right thing and ban Gay Marriages!
Im from the UK and the government here are so weak and they will give in eventually.
In Europe you can have a Gay Marriage in Holland and Spain has recently legalised it!

Im getting so sick of the constant immorality in the UK!

No, it's not reading the Bible literally. If you did, you would have to following all the Holiness Codes and cultural rules of the OT. Tell me, do you do that? No, I'm sure you don't. Yet you feel you can judge me?
I am not judging you, I am incapable of judging you as I do not know you. But I am able to call sin for what it is. God gives us all that ability.

In the world today, the admonition not to "judge" is frequently used to place a virtual gag order over those who would speak up against popular and accepted world practices. Even some Christians will use a "don't judge" stance when erroneous teachings and ministries in the church are examined. In fact, many false prophets are using Scripture references like "touch not my anointed" and "do my prophets no harm" in order to protect their doctrines and actions from exposure. The word judge has been so perverted that to judge anything is now considered by many to be anti-Christian behavior, and anyone who does so is likely to be labeled as an "accuser of the brethren."

Well, what does God have to say on this subject? Is it true that Christians are told not to judge? The simple answer is no. In fact, according to Scripture those who do not judge are more likely to be led astray by false doctrines and are less effective witnesses for Christ.

not all men. the ones who self loathe there masculinity are ok? right?
What? I have no problem with men, I just don't want to have sex with them. That doesn't mean I think they're all evil. Some of my best friends are men, that still doesn't mean I want to sleep with them or marry them.

"So are you saying the ability or willingness to reproduce is basis for the government granting marriage rights?"

lemme guess. your going to say "under that logic, sterile people shouldnt marry."

lol. please.
Not at all. I wouldn't presume to tell people who they can and can't marry. But if you're going to sit there in judgement of a same-sex couple right to marry and deny them that on the basis that they can't procreate, then you're leaving out a few people who also fit that description.

You are judging! You sit there and tell me I am immoral and should be denied the right to marry the person of my choosing just because you don't agree with it because of the way you read your holy book!

So you follow ALL the rules in the OT too? Why pick out the rule against homosexuality to justify discrimination, yet you do not follow or apply all the other rules?
A: Because it's condemned in the New Testament, as well (1 Corinthians 6:9).

Even if it weren't, considering that it's slammed repeated in the Old and given as a hallmark of wickedness (Sodom and Gamorrah were rife before their destruction), it's extremely unlikely that unchanging, almighty God has suddenly taken a liking to it.

Hmmm.... maybe. But that doesn't mean He meant for everyone to follow Christian religion.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I think that successfully puts to bed that untruth.
Jesus is the ONLY way.

that's not judging, from the context of biblical teaching, it's called correction. :)

1 Corinthians 6:9, "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders"

This verse refers to homosexual offenders, people who commit violent acts, not loving same-sex couples.

And Sodom and Gomorrah was not destoryed because of homosexuality, like we've all been taught to believe.

No, I am not judging you. I am stating that I believe certain actions are morally wrong and sinful. And why should I grant you a venue for that sin???

Amen.

To those who deny it (or don't believe): There really is power in both His blood and His name (I've witnessed multiple prayers answered over the course of my life). If you get really bored tonight, ask Him to come into your heart, if He's real.

The only catch is that you've gotta' do it sincerely, but if He's a myth, what have you got to lose? :)

John 14:6

EOS.
Yes, thru following Jesus' example of love and forgiviness. Jesus didn't start the Christian religion. It was started after his death. So to say that verse refering to Jesus telling everyone to become a Christian, is false.

I'm sorry Veggie, but that again is gay revisionism speaking and not God.

Yes, Jesus. Not Christianity. Many religions recognize Jesus simple truths, but without all the dogma.

And that my friends is really our purpose here on Earth, to lead people to Him, to spread the Good News. I fear that we let God down by spending more time here debating than doing God's work by bringing people to Him :sigh:

Thank you BC for the reminder!
