The LDS deserve nothing! Period. Once again, if one gets ahold of a perverse, demented, view of a god (who cannot exist), then just what kind of "love" can they truly exhibit? A perverse, demented love, that does not exist.

We all deserve hell. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Thank God for His mercy and His grace.

My LDS neighbors and the LDS posters on this board are quite capable of loving others ... and in a genuine way, not a "perverse" and "demented" way. I don't think that "orthodox" Christianity has a monopoly on love.

I agree that we all deserve hell and everyone of us is a straight path right to it if we don't have the Lord.

I can understand voiceing beliefs and what the Word of God says about the differences of beliefs between Christianity and Mormonism but I don't think it should be made a "personal" issue. For example, I can see someone saying "the lds church is not a Biblically based church" and then giving the reasons for this, but it is unkind and unnessisary to say to an lds person, "you are not of Christ". And in regards to calling someone a liar. You could say, "I have a hard time believing that and this is why..." or you can post their quotes exactly as they stated them if they have lied and it can be proven but to just call someone a liar because of the church they follow, I do not think that is right at all.

I think the HG leads us into truth as we are ready. Sometimes you get a lot in a single hit, and sometimes it is a little at a time. I remember feeling the HG in another church (when I was much younger) and being surprised that I could feel the HG there. We I listened to the speaker I realised the speaker was speaking of the atonement of Christ. Of course the HG would bear witness to it.

I then had to grow up and realise we don't have a monopoly on the HG.

In Iraq, we had a Reserve unit out of Salt Lake City attached to us. Most of them were Mormons, of course. One of them (Mark) was on my own team, in fact, and four lived in my tent. I had a discussion or three with Mark about religion, and I recall being struck by the pure love he exhibited, both for his fellow man and for Jesus! He had pictures of Jesus in his cot area, and taught me a thing or two about compassion and courage. His view of fasting was wonderful, and helped me make more sense of it than ever before.

Jerry was another who lived in my tent, although he's a Mormon from my home state. He was my team sergeant on a couple of different teams. Always fair, but sacrificially loving, too. For example, he knew that I wasn't real good at vehicle maintenance, and besides, it takes me so long to get ready for a mission anyway.... so although he could have ordered me to do the pre-mission checks and maintenance based on rank, he usually did them himself, just out of the kindness of his heart.

Gabe was another one who lived in my tent, also out of Salt Lake. He was always sweet and even-tempered, hardly ever complained about anything, although he was on one of the toughest teams we had....

The only one I ever had a problem with was Trent, and that's because his cot was right next to the door, and I used to make a lot of trips in and out in the morning, to the workout area, the shower, the mess hall, etc., all while he was trying to sleep. And the morning light would get in his eyes, and he would sit up and glare at me, wondering just what on earth I was doing, going in and out like that??? LOL

Sorry, but I wanted to defend the very sincere and devout Mormons I have known! I do NOT care to similarly defend Scientology, with which I have quite a bit of personal, painful experience!

Sorry OldShephard, I helped with the whole "getting off topic" thing. I promise to try harder not to do that.

In regards to the OP. Is there anyone here that DOES believe Scientology is a christian belief system?

Frankie
I went into Scientology believing that it was possible to embrace that belief system as a Christian. I was terribly wrong.
