Have any of you ever noticed the spiritual condition of the youth of our current generation? To me, I see a generation that is falling away from the truth at an alarming pace. I can't even relate to them at all. They have really bad attitudes, no common sense, they don't respect others or themselves, and they just seem so blind to the real world and the spiritual world.

What do you all think about their hair styles, their clothes, their tatoo's and the body piercing??? And is there any way that we can reach them before it's too late??? What do you think???----------------------------------------

A little over a year ago, I was having a conversation with someone about the European Union on a christian forum.  The person I was conversing with didn't know who the leader of the EU was at that time, which really isn't that uncommon because our liberal media doesn't really say much about that part of our world.  For those that study Bible Prophecy though, we are expecting a revival of the ancient Roman Empire.

Not only did the person that I was talking to not know who the president was at the time, but she also was not aware that the EU presidents rotated their presidents every six months.  That's right, the 15 member nations of the EU change their leader every six months.  They all get their turn to lead. That is very odd isn't it?

After this conversation, I was pondering these things.  I opened my Bible up to the book of Daniel.  As I read through parts of it, one verse in particular stood out.  It may seem like a coincident to some, but I believe I was meant to focus on that one little verse.  I also believe the Holy Spirit gave me a little insight that goes with that little verse.  And when He did, it was if a light had come on, and I made a blind prediction as to what would happen.  It was nothing really wild, but I knew it had to happen before the tribulation could begin.

Here's the verse :
Daniel 7:25 - "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

You see, it just suddenly hit me after I read that verse.  Everyone knows that the coming anti-christ will be given the authority to reign for 42 months, but it can't happen if the EU is rotating their presidents every six months.  So I instantly knew that this policy would have to change first.  The verse doesn't say that he would be the one to change the times and laws, but he would be the one that would think of changing the times and laws.

Hi rollinthunder,

I am trying to raise some of this generation.

(By the grace of God mine will be productive members of society).

I think what you are witnessing is a generation that has been exposed to way to much violence. They are very angry their music is angry. (I think of the pictures of the 90's Woodstock, much different from the 60's, not that it was a good thing but what a difference.) A lot have to go to school every day and pass through a metal detector. We live in a different time.

You are looking at a generation that either has no father in the home or maybe even have same sex homes two moms or two dads.

I am 35 :) (I know old I guess I would be in generation X) but I could not imagine having to grow up now. I think it would be very hard.

Just a few of my thoughts. The other thing I always think about; do you realize how much of this generation is missing because of abortion?

Honestly I think they can be reached. It all starts with us. As a parent I am doing the job that God asks of me. We have to pray for all of them.

God Bless,
Roberta :)

Way to go Roberta!
I think what we are seeing is the result of poor parenting; I don't have kids of my own but I work with kids all day and meet their parents and I can tell you that half of the parents do not talk to their kids or spend time with them.
I think kids need parents to spend time with them and ask questions such as who, what, why, etc.
On top of that it seems like a lot of parents are not firm enough. They do not have consistency and do not raise their kids to suffer consequences.
Anyway, this is my opinion and I realize that not all parents are this way.

The idea that the current generation of youth are getting worse has always been around. I remember reading an ancient Roman grumble that the current generation of youngsters show no respect to the traditions of the elders.

But what Rolling Thunder said is true. Many youth in Western Society do not have any respect for anything much. (Apart from a concern for green pro-ecological movements.)

I think it has to do with the increase of the power of the left-wing media (movies/newspapers/music) which has encouraged people to be overtly cynical and critical of traditonal morals, institutions, and society.

In the past, people's lives and destinies were tied to their family, community, guild, or nation. But in this ever changing modern world, esp in the democratic "my rights first" world, the strength of such ties have weaken.

Today's youth, in Western Society, have great freedom. They can, with relative ease, leave their family, travel the world, change their careers, even their religion and church :) - things that were practically impossible in the ancient past.

But it seems ironic that without the old constraints, people feel alienated and lack a sense of belonging. Many become too individualistic and selfish.

Many people now place their trust not in a god, or the nation's flag, or a king but in themselves or a spouse. Read the lyrics of today's pop romantic music. Its a worship song. It teaches them to place their hope, sense of worth, and fulfilment in a human being. Thanks to the radio, people hear this non-stop now. Is that music or a subtle brain wash.

And when they get disappointed by human love. What then? What is there to fall back on?

Is it no wonder that drugs and crime are increasing?

I've going off-track here. But if Christians go out and meet the needs of people in a loving Christ-like way, surely we will become the salt of this world- preserving it and making it "taste better.

Cheers,

YM

P.S.
BTW, lets not get too negative. Some important things today are indeed better. For example, infant and female mortality rates have dramatically decreased with the rise of cheaper anti-biotics and better hygiene and medicine. Unfortunately, infant abortion rates have soared. We could go on forever discussing this.

I am much older now, but when I and many of those I knew were young we were basically disrespectful of Christians and Christian
morallity. I, but for the grace of God, grew out of it and became a Christian. Although I notice that people in general are meaner
and frown on the morallity of God. Even some who call themselves Christians are becoming incorrectable. i really believe it to be a combination of media brainwashing,(do more to please yourself, you deserve it) and the long term effects of drug use. So many people these days either have done or are on drugs for various reasons. Its all about fixing yourself by taking drugs.
