Macaroni and cheese:
1 cup elbow macaroni
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 Tlbspn margarine or butter
1 Tblspn all pupose flour
1 1/4 cup milk
2 cups shredded american cheese
1 tomato, sliced
cook macaroni accoding to pkg directions. Meanwhile for cheese sauce, in a saucepan cook onion in margarin or butter till tender but not brown. Stir in flour and pepper. Ad milk all at once. Cook and stir til slightly bubbly. Add shredded cheese; stir til melted.
Stir macaroni into cheese sauce in caserole dish. Bake, uncovered at 350 for 30 minute or til bubbly. During last five minutes arrange sliced tomato on the top, if so desired.
