Run as fast as I can. :)

Get into a conversation with God and ask Him for His help; for Him to come alongside of me to help me through it.

I have a book on prayers, and the chapters are divided into specific "helps" we may need, all with scripture included; alcohol, temptation of the opposite sex, pride, etc.....

It really helps.

I try my best to do what I know is right, and I ask God for the guidance to help me figure it out. A lot of the time I follow my heart, if my heart tells me not to do something, and my mind does, most of the time my heart is prolly right. If its not, I can always be forgiven, that's why Jesus came, right? Ok yeah...but I do my best to do what I know is right, even though I don't always succeed....that's just me!

It depends. Some temptations (such as worshipping other gods or sexual temptation) are ones that we are too weak to fight, so we should flee them.

Other temptations (like greed) are impossible to flee unless one takes a vow of poverty or moves to a monastery or something. Those are temptations that you are to face and fight because they will not go away, nor can you flee from them in any realistic sense.

Whenever I am faced with temptation, I recall these very reassuring and comforting words: "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." (1 Cor 10:13)

Knowing that God is in full control, and that He'll have an "escape path" for me, allows me to focus on THAT....rather than the temptation itself.

"Okay... God has an escape route for me... I just have to stop, and listen for Him to show me."

As others have said, sometimes it means re-enacting a scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail.... "RUN AWAY!"  :D

PRAY, PRAY, PRAY and PRAY some more.

I is easiest to beat temptation right at the beginning. If a bad
thought enters your head and you entertain that thought- it will grow. The longer you go before you fight- the more likely the temptation will overcome you.

David's lustful thoughts about Bethsheba led to him spying on her, taking her to his palace, adultry, and evenutally the murder of Bethsheba's husband Uriah. A small sin unrepented always leads to a more serious sin.

Sin accepted is sin fed and sin fed is sin growing. Nip it in the bud and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY,PRAY,PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, and when you have done all of that- PRAY again!

In Christ, Patrick
PS: Don't forget to PRAY!
