  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Mastermind" of Minnesota child meal fraud gets nearly 42 years in Feeding Our Future case

A judge has ordered the Minnesota "mastermind" in the nation's largest pandemic fraud case to serve 41.5 years in prison — the harshest sentence to date in connection with the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
Why it matters: Prosecutors say former Feeding Our Future executive director Aimee Bock was at the center of a scheme to steal more than $240 million from a federally funded child meals program during the pandemic.

I'm sure the next Democratic president will pardon her.
And then he'll only have 1499 more criminals to pardon to come close to Trump's record.

Will this conviction bring further scrutiny of the Governors actions - or inactions?

Illuvatar's post about "a Democrat will pardon her" made me see a need for us to gain some perspective. Dangerous criminals should never be pardoned by either party. Although this woman's crime was financial/white collar, the sums involved put it in my "dangerous" category. The 1500 insurrectionists pardoned (and possibly to be rewarded) by Trump are dangerous because they killed several Capitol police, wounded 300, and vandalized a historic site. They are dangerous.

Am I correct then in saying is has nothing to do with the woman stealing 250,000,000 from the citizens of her state? Your response was initiated by the mention of a pardon. Would I then be correct in viewing it as a whataboutism?

Thank you for clarifying.

Is the last sentence from the article, or is it your question?

Aren't they already scrutinized? Why would the level of scrutiny hinge on the conviction? One would hope that the loss of the money is a good enough incentive.

To answer your question. If they are already scrutinized (which I believe them to be) I don't see how the conviction would change anything, so probably no.

No, it's not whataboutism.

My comment was meant as a joke.

Remember when the Administration was castigated for stopping the funding?

Trump administration halts Minnesota Medicaid funds over fraud allegations

Vice President J.D. Vance announced yesterday that the federal government would hold back $259 million in Medicaid funding for Minnesota over fraud concerns. The state and its welfare fraud scandals have become a target for the Trump administration, which deployed thousands of immigration agents to the Twin Cities in recent months.

I guess they were right...

Oh yes. Does not negate what I said. Being a fraudster himself, Trump likes his fraudsters pending who you are.
What this lady stole was peanuts compared to who Trump has let out of jail for fraud.
I mean fraud is fraud, and fraud is bad. But for Trump supporters to bring up fraud clutching their pearls is rich.
