  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump’s spiritual advisor Paula White-Cain's Holy Week message for the President: “You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused."

I think Trump probably agrees this Bible stuff is big yawn to him. He’s got much more important things to do this weekend like get his ballroom built and threaten war crimes on some foreign people.

I’m inclined towards power as it pertains to her support for Trump. She isn’t alone, many of my Christian community voted for Trump because of, in part at least, power.
Correct. Evangelical Christianity has become less about Jesus, and more about being the political power movement it started with the moral majority. Even if that achieving that power means aligning, and likening him to Jesus, of adoration for one with little to no morals.

Political ends disguised as mangled Gospel values. And they are actually sincere. How deeply we can be deceived..

Hey, that's the Senior Advisor to the White House Faith Office you're talking about.
A fraud herself, who improperly accessed Journey's financial accounts. She fits right in with Trump the convicted felon!

I don't infer "Trump is Jesus" I infer "Trump is persecuted like many others, a familiar pattern" , Jesus would be the ultimate example of persecution. The main message is Christians are persecuted.

No, Paula wasn’t discussing “Christians.” “Trump” is her subject matter and invoked while referring to Jesus prosecution by religious authorities and death as a result of it.

Your euphemistic phrasing doesn’t alter the facts, just recasts them in a more benign manner.

Do you think Trump was “persecuted “ because he was Christian?

A fraud herself, who improperly accessed Journey's financial accounts. She fits right in with Trump the convicted felon!
In early 2023, Journey guitarist
Neal Schon accused Paula White-Cain, wife of bandmate Jonathan Cain, of improperly accessing the band's bank accounts. Schon's legal team sent a cease-and-desist letter alleging she and her husband were misusing funds, which her attorney called "nonsensical," arguing she was a co-trustee of her husband’s 50% share.

  • Accusation: Neal Schon alleged that White-Cain, a televangelist and former spiritual adviser to Donald Trump, had gained unauthorized access to a band account and "inserted" herself into business matters.
  • Response: Attorneys for Paula White-Cain and Jonathan Cain stated that because she is a co-trustee of her husband's 50% share of the band's holding company, her access to the accounts was legal and aboveboard.
  • Outcome: No formal legal charges or evidence of embezzlement were finalized in public reports; rather, the incident was part of a larger, contentious legal dispute and public spat between Schon and the Cains.

It's not like this is a new thing. When Evangelicals and Pentecostals had more actual cultural capital and a kind of assumed normativity for Christianity, they felt their power was largely unthreatened. Dungeons and Dragons and fictional wizards were seen as their greatest enemies before then. Now it's pretty much anybody that doesn't agree with a romanticized view of the 1950's.

The Mainline has been in a similar position for about two decades longer, but unlike Evangelicals, they've mostly chosen to take a more quietist path that doesn't enmesh themselves in political power.

“You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused. It’s a familiar pattern that our lord and savior showed us,” she said.
Accused, impeached, convicted on 34 felony counts.....and allowed to run for president again anyway.

Just like Jesus.
