  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The trans reckoning has arrived

Future generations will not look kindly on those who betrayed the truth for comfort and career advancement.

The reckoning is finally arriving, echoing the dilemma in Eugene Genovese’s powerful essay, ‘The Question’. Writing in 1994, Genovese confessed that he and many others had remained loyal to the Soviet Union long after they knew about the mass killings and the gulags. ‘For many years’, he admitted, ‘I have lived in dread of having to answer The Question… “What did you know, and when did you know it?”’ Eventually, he acknowledged the uncomfortable truth: ‘We knew everything essential and knew it from the beginning.’ Many mainstream journalists will soon find themselves confronting the same question.

The sudden resignations this week of BBC director-general Tim Davie and CEO of news Deborah Turness has focussed minds on the role of the media. It has been startling – and grimly predictable – to watch senior figures at the BBC scrambling to defend their failures by muttering darkly about ‘right-wing conspiracies’ and ‘inside jobs’. Few, if any, have paused to consider whether the real problem might be their own cowardice.

It needs to keep going, but darkness is winning and will continue to win until the Lord returns and sets everything right again. I don't see this trans thing ever going back to the way it was when it was classified as a mental disorder instead of acceptance. We might get barriers in place for children, but how long will that hold?

It did what it was supposed to do. Sterilization/eugenics, the normalization of transhumanism and pedophilia, and a populace of regular people being so tired of it they'd vote in a dictator. Regular people will riot when their kids are in danger and people turning a free Protestant nation into an underage sex-change brothel has worked to bring in things like Trump before (rip nation of Luther.)

Back in the 1960s, when I took a class in Abnormal Psychology, homosexuality was listed as a mental illness. That ended when researchers found that homosexuals scored pretty much like everyone else on every inventory of mental illness. Someone should do the research on trans people.
I suspect the results will be different.

Not to beat up on those who are trans, but it might make such a decision possible only for the individual involved after he or she is an adult.

Agreed. I don’t care what adults do with their bodies. It’s their decision.

Nothing about homosexual civil rights that I can recall ever required everyone else to deny scientific facts and accept a universally applicable change in basic decency standards. When same-gender activity involved children, we called it abuse already.
