WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican tax bill approved by the U.S. House of Representatives would cost the poorest Americans roughly $1,600 a year while increasing the income of the wealthiest households by an average of $12,000 annually, according to a new analysis released Thursday by the Congressional Budget Office...
...The cuts to the lowest-income households come from proposed cuts to social safety net programs including Medicaid and a food assistance program for lower-income people, known as Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program.
That reality as well the reality their bill will drive up the deficit 2.4T, is why the GOP without conscience just dismisses not just the CBO's score, but every economic think tank who come to the same conclusion. Don't like the reality of climate change, just dismiss it as a hoax. Don't like the reality of losing a election, just claim it was stolen. Don't like the realities of covid, just call it a hoax. It's all the same Modus Operandi.

Lower-middle class Trump voters, betrayed over and over by Trump's false promises, will hopefully wake up. Deporting that hard working guy in the chicken plant isn't going to make their lives any better.

I'm surprised that the wealthiest only get 12k.

I mean.. that's it? That's what you manipulated politics for all those years? That's like playing the long con to get some free meat samples at the local deli counter.

There are no cuts to Medicaid to those legally eligible to be on it . The fear mongering on this is just a liberal lie. Sorry illegal aliens and able bodied people might be booted off of a program that they never should have been on. That is called cost savings not cuts. Just to be clear,

are you sure? This detailed review of the impact suggests otherwise: House Republicans’ Big, ‘Beautiful’ Bill Would Make Health Care More Expensive for Americans With Medicare and Other Insurance

The work requirement will be difficult to do. The experience in Arkansas was that it didn't increase employment, but drowned both applicants and the government in red tape, lowering the number of people covered. Maybe there are better ways to do it.

Maybe that was the point.

Indeed, I'm going to guess that those who are gaming the system will be largely uneffected. Those who lose coverages will more likely be those who lack the resources or wherewithal to navigate all of the additional red tape.

You post a liberal analysis and ask me if I am sure??
Well, are you? Labeling the analysis "liberal" is not much of an argument. Can you dispute any of the points with more than a sneering handwave?

There are certainly people gaming the system. Unfortunately, trying to stop them requires increasing documentation and reviews, which many of the rightful beneficiaries may not be able to navigate. We are not all lawyers. Experience in Arkansas shows the problems.

Sec. 112103. Disallowing premium tax credit during periods of Medicaid ineligibility due to alien status.

Current Law: Current law limits premium tax credit eligibility to an individual who reports income above 100 percent of the federal poverty level and who is an alien "lawfully present" in the U.S. An exception allows such aliens who report income below 100 percent of the federal poverty level and are in their five-year Medicaid waiting period (due to immigration status) to receive premium tax credits to purchase health insurance on the Exchange.

Provision: This provision strikes this loophole.

Sec. 112104. Limiting Medicare coverage of certain individuals.

Current Law: Under current law, individuals who are "lawfully present" in the U.S. and meet Medicare's standard eligibility requirements are generally allowed to enroll in Medicare.

Provision: This provision would eliminate Medicare eligibility for illegal immigrants and only allow eligibility for Lawful Permanent Residents, certain Cuban immigrants, and individuals living in the United States through a Compact of Free Association.

Maybe we can make some weapons systems ineligible for defense spending. We can reduce the defense budget without any cuts!
Just like the “successful” defund the police idea?
