UGH! How could someone live with themself after doing a thing like that??

I can only imagine how I would feel...I have several friends and family in the Iraqi area (not sure where for security reasons of course) and if someone played that prank on me...

I sure hope they get whta they have coming!

As they mentioned in the article although this is a sick joke. The notification of a death of a spouse isn't done in that manner. Most military spouses would know this, and were likely not fooled. The Commander or representative officer, and a Chaplain go to inform the family when their family member has been killed, either in the line of duty or even in a tragic accident. My husband as a Chaplain has been on the notification team a few times, and that is the hardest thing he has ever had to do. Pray for those casualty notification teams, as well as the family members they have to notify.

Deplorable.
Perhaps now the military should find ways to let families know and also let them know it comes from the military. Kind of like official emails from AOL being highlighted in blue to let you know it's the real deal.

[edit: err, maybe I should read Lanakill's posts first before replying ;p]

Usually military messengers show up in person....
or a telegram is sent from Dept. of the Army, Navy, Air Force, etc...

but this stunt is about as low as it gets...

during Viet Nam sick people, like the ones doing this, wpuld read the casualty reports and call people up and say, "We're glad your son got kiled in Viet Nam".

Lana,

While that is true... the emotions and adrenelin inside your body at the moment that they tell you your loved one is ... dead... you don't think logically about that... you just think what they said is true and lose it completely...

Long ago, my wife got in a fight at school, and she wasn't hurt badly, so she went ahead with her plans - went over to a friend's house. But, see, one of her friends mentioned the fight to his mom, who called my wife's mom, and she called the school, and they *wouldn't tell her over the phone*, they came out to talk to her... so she thought her daughter was dead. BOY was she mad at them.

sick hearts=sick minds...

someone call Dr Jesus...STAT!

Who knows what lurks in anyone's minds to do something like that. What a way to get their jollies out of it. Two verses keeps popping up in my mind lately--
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prov 11:5--
"The righteousness of the blameless shall rectify and make plain their way and keep it straight, but the wicked shall fall by their wickedness."

Jeremiah 17:9--
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse, corrupt and severely, morally sick! Who can know it? (refer to Matt 13:15-17; Mark 7:21-23; Eph 4:20-24)

Amplified Bible
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's another verse I can't find that says something about this in the LAST days...where people take sick pleasure in doing this to others.

Today at 03:44 PM seebs said this in Post #10

I do not know if this has anything to do with what we are talking about here. But I had a friend who got a call in the middle of the night that their daughter was in a serious car accident and they were going to have to operate and they needed them to sign the release form, so they could operate.

To make a long story short, it turns out that they got the purses and thus the ID's mixed up and they called them in by mistake. Their daughter it turns out was not seriously harmed in the accident.

Paulewog,
"People don't respect anyone anymore... except themselves."

I agree with JohnR7. The root of respect of others is a CORRECT self-respect, knowing that you are a child of God. Disrespect for others is found in those who do not respect themselves, thus attempt to bring others down to make themselves feel better about themself.

People don't respect anyone anymore PERIOD. Additionally, they don't respect anything either.

In Christ, Patrick
