I began a search on the internet to try to understand the confusion that is in myself and our world. Some people think of this war is war between opposing Gods. So I ask you to explain to me…Who is Allah?

I am open to your comments and help. Let me explain the beliefs that I carry into this conversation...

I know that there is no other true God except our Creator. I have had supernatural experiences that relate to me the knowledge...That God is one, but that people see him differently and that is the basis of religions. God is the same...the difference is within us. We are not perfect ... God is. Religion is good for us. It is our way of trying to understand God. But our minds were not built to conceive all that is God. No one living will ever have all the answers. I am a Christian and I believe in Christ. I am a soul that searches for light. I belief that the most abundant light dwells within the Christian religions.

Now on to Allah...

From off the wall remarks, and hatred that is in our world...I was totally prepared to disclaim Allah. But this is what I found in my initial attempt to discovery the truth of Allah. This is the site I was on...Allah

These names were listed as prophets of Allah....

Adam
Job
Jonah
Noah
Abraham
Ismael
Isaac
Jacob
Joseph
Hud
Elias
Elijah
Ezekail
Imran
Moses
Aaron
Lot
David
Solomon
Saleh
Zakaraia
John the Baptist
Jesus
Muhammad

I stopped my search for a time. I am asking for your help. I had not expected this list of familiar names to be associated with Allah. Could Allah indeed be our same God ? Is it true that the difference is merely in human perception and related adopted religious practices and or doctrine?

Please do not attack me with slander and hate. I feel it has no place in a Christian dialogue. I am very interested in your information and opinions. Thank you.

LOVE

Many Christians accept the Muslim claim that we both worship the same God. They claim that they call him Allah, while we call him God. It is not unusual to hear Christian leaders make such statements. Bible societies have even gone so far as to use the name Allah in the Bibles they produce for Arab Christians.

The problem with this is two-fold. First, history and archeology show clearly that Allah was worshipped as a pagan moon god long before Mohammed came on the scene. Robert Morey, author of The Islamic Invasion, explains:

"Islam's origins have been traced back by scholars to the ancient fertility religion of the worship of the moon god which was always the dominant religion of Arabia. The moon god was worshipped by praying toward Mecca several times a day, making an annual pilgrimage to the Kabah which was a temple of the moon god, running around the Kabah seven times, caressing an idol of a black stone set in the wall of the Kabah, running between two hills, making animal sacrifices, gathering on Fridays for prayers, giving alms to the poor, etc. These were pagan rites practiced by the Arabs long before Muhammad was born."

"What religion today practices the pagan rites of the moon god? Islam! This explains why the crescent moon is the symbol of Islam. It is placed on top of mosques and minarets and displayed on hats, flags, rugs, amulets and even jewelry. Every time you see the Muslim symbol of a crescent moon, you are seeing the ancient symbol of the moon god."

Second, if you read the Qur'an's description of Allah, and read the Bible's description of God, it becomes obvious you are reading about two different persons. Allah orders his followers to kill those who deny Islam, while God instructs us to love our enemies. Allah had no son while God sent His Son to die for sinful men. Allah is "unknowable" while God seeks a personal relationship with His creation, man.

The spirit behind Islam is an entirely different spirit... a spirit that denies the deity of Jesus Christ. Any Christian who accepts the notion that Allah is God creates an impossible situation. Since the Qur'an contains our only revelation about Allah, they will be forced to look there as their authority. The Qur'an specifically denies the deity of Christ! All Christian witness ends right there.

FINNALY SOMEONE WHO SEES IT MY WAY.
I have never belived that Allah is the same God we christians pray to.Why,for the exact same reason Ed has mentioned above.
Our God is a loving God and not one who promotes hatered amoung people.Look at the senseless killing that they do in Israel.Jews came before the muslims from Adam onwards. How they claim Abraham to be the founder of Islam beats me.
They is only one God and He is a loving God not one who asks his followers to invite violence to others.
God bless you all .

I think they claim Muhommad (sp?) was the one who started Islam, not Ishmael, because they claim he (He being Ishmael) as the father of the Arab people.

1. Allah is not the same as our God.
2. Allah is not the same as our God.
3. Repeat 1 and 2 times infinity. You will get the point after a while.

Allah cannot have any sons at all, but our God can have as much as He wants. That's just one difference between them. Allah orders Jews to be killed. No question; if they're a Jew, kill it no matter what, that's what they believe. Our God says that if you kill like that, you'd be shedding innocent blood (Murder), and their blood will be on your hands. . . The Koran says to not be friends with Jews or Christians. If you are, Allah will not like that. Our God says treat everyone as you would like to be treated! Allah says that if you kill yourself along with other innocent people, you'll be in heaven. This demonstrates salvation through works. Our God says the only way to heaven is believing in Jesus, and that works can't and will not save anybody.

1. Don't believe anything the media spews out. They only do this to appease Muslims.
2. Don't believe anything the media spews out. They only do this to appease Muslims.
3. Don't believe anything the media spews out. They only do this to appease Muslims.
4. Don't believe anything the media spews out. They only do this to appease Muslims.
5. Repeat #s 1 through 4.

God bless :)

Edjones: take a look at this site...
Allah...Moon God ?

This is one quote from the site...

The Crescent Moon heralds the beginning of the new month and the new year. During the period of Islamic Empire, the crescent moon was adopted as a state emblem. It had nothing to do with religious beliefs. Today, Eagle is the popular state emblem in U.S.A. Does that emblem represent the religious beliefs of the citizens of U.S.A.?

Please do not get me wrong. I am not saying that Islam’s have a better grasp on God than Christians. But I believe that there is a misunderstand and division in this world because of people not understanding that our difficulty stems from... the difference in Religion created by man and not the reality that is God. You talk of books... I support the Bible as the word of God. But is there any indication given within the Bible that God had nothing more to say to anyone else? Were there not to be other prophets? Is there not still a search for other manuscripts? I am also perplexed at why those that worship Allah, list some of the same prophets as those found in our Bible. Were the stories the same also?

It is true that they do not belief in the trinity as we do. But have not many of us questioned what is the true meaning of trinity? The word trinity is not spoken in the Bible. Jesus never used the word trinity. God is one...that is what is repeated in our Bible again and again. But I believe that Jesus is God. I also know that the Holy Spirit is God. Could not the way we think of God as three… really be a union of one. Look to the example God gave us with our life:

Matthew 19: 4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator `made them male and female, 5and said, `For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

We all know that the wife is indeed a separate person than her husband. But to God they are one.

I am not saying that Muslims are in possession of answers to the mystery of God. I am only wondering if many humans have different interpretations of God.

I believe in the God of all creation. I look to the Bible as the word of God. But I have full confidence that God would have called me to share in his love and mercy…no matter what culture or religion, my human heritage would have placed on me. I believe that God is more powerful and loving and merciful than all the mistakes of man.

God is one. His fight will be with Satan. If we could gain an insight into this message…the book of Revelations would become clearer. No we can not stop what must happen… but we can protect ourselves and those we love from the hatred that could keep us from salvation.

I will not trouble you any further with this conversation. I leave you with my prayer that we learn to walk in LOVE.

Prior to Mohammed's visions, Allah was the Moon god of Middle Eastern religion. Mohammed's father and mother were devout followers of Allah, and wished that more people would worship him. Thus, it is no surprise that Mohammend's visions would center on Allah and elevate Allah to the status as the one true deity. It is in that way that Mohammed achieved his parent's goal to spread worship of Allah.

I am not defending the Muslim faith... If I have a purpose at all it would be to gain a more pure understanding and to help others see more clearly the ramifications of HATE!!
I would appreciate if you would document your accusations with fact. Do Muslims have manuscript that tell them to kill all Jews? Or is the hatred that is spoken and commanded... the words of humans. Remember that many "Christians" have also done and said things that are not of Christ or God.

Our faith doesn't allow for hate. People who hate are not following the teachings of Christ.

Muslims do have a book that calls for anomosity between Jews and Islam, and they have in the same book instructions to kill anyone who refuses to convert or who converts to another faith.

You have to understand that their beliefs say that Allah's plans cannot be completed until every human is either a follower of Islam or is dead. That's why they go out with a vengence to convert or kill, and why it is so heinous to them that someone might want to leave Islam. It makes it impossible for Allah's plan to come to fruition. In fact, the word Islam means "submission." I can imagine that if we thought our God's plan could only be completed by the submission of all mankind, we would be more zealous and more tempted to force conversions, too.

Thank God our God can be in control no matter what we do or don't do!

ALLAH, DIVINE OR DEMONIC?

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Pantheon/5056/

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS BOOK?
Briefly, Allah is the name of a pagan deity from Babylon. He had a wife named Allat whom he picked up in ancient Sumer, and who migrated with him, over a 3500 year period, to Mecca.

Allah also had a prophet named Muhammed who was an illiterate, devil possessed, and sexually obsessed man. Islam itself is built upon one of the most vile and degraded foundations of any world class religion. It is shocking to hear the Pope and some Protestants giving Islam credibility as, "one of the three great monotheistic religions handed down from Abraham." John Paul, sir, you are deranged! And that is putting it mildly.

The Muslim has an open invitation to flee from Islam to The Lord Jesus Christ, and I pray that many will think seriously about that possibility after reading the book.

If you are a Muslim, I urge you to read on. Check me out. I have used the inscriptions found in stone dating back 5000 years, and I have used the Koran and the Hadith of Muhammed. The final authority is The Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible, King James Version. This is not a story made up out of Western hate for Muslims and Arabs. This is my message of zeal and love to you. I want to be your servant to shine the light of history and the glorious Gospel, Al Injil, of The Lord Jesus Christ on the whole Islamic scene.

If you are an Arab Christian, a missionary to Muslims, or an interested reader, I promise you that this book is not deeply academic, though it is based in some heavy research and well footnoted. You will learn that it is the most exquisite of blasphemies to call the God of the Bible, "ALLAH." To be spiritually responsible, I have offered a Bible-based substitute for the name ALLAH.

The book reads like a suspense thriller as you follow Allah across the sands of Arabia on his pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca. Please do not pass over Chapters One and Two. They show the love of God for both Jews and Arabs. They are a key to understanding the whole book.

In passing, this book also exposes the ancient pagan origins of the Roman Catholic Church. This also promises you plenty of controversy. I also debunk several counterfeit modern theories about Arabs and Islam. There is much more, but this introduction is long enough. The book is NOT politically correct. It is, to the best of my ability in the Lord, correct by the Word of God and historical evidences. Check it out.

One important thing to know, catchup, is that according to the New Testament, God proclaimed (at Jesus's baptism) that Jesus is His son, in whom He is well-pleased. But according to the Koran, Jesus is not Allah's son. In fact, Mohammed says Allah says that it is an extreme blasphemy to say that Allah has a son.

So they can't be the same God. God cna't say that He has a beloved son AND say that he has no son at all! That would make one of them a liar. Either God has a son, or He doesn't. Both can't be true.

I have a few scriptures that I think apply.First Romans 1: 20.
"For since the creation of the world G-d's invisible qualities-his eternal power and devine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood fromwhat has been made, so that men are without excuse."
I think that this scripture allows for revelation outside of Judiasm and Christianity. Nature/creation itself teachs the existence of G-d. Because they don't explain him correctly, does not mean they can't have a basic revelation of the creator.

Second,Romans 2:14,15
" Indeed, when gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them."
Having a conscience of right and wrong seems to also be possible apart from the Biblical revelation.

Third Acts 17;23
" For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: To an Unknown G-d. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclim to you."
Paul refered to their unknown G-d as the one true G-d that he would proclaim to them.

I also need to point out that Muslims have many different interpretations of their scriptures. It is possible to take verses out of both the old and new Testament and shock people with their teachings. Like where Jesus promotes cutting off our hands and plucking out our eyes. I have seen the Muslim passages that seem to promote violence and realize that they have been used that way sometimes throughout history. But not every Muslim interprets them that way.
As far as the basic question about Allah. James 2:19 says even the demons believe and tremble. They still need Jesus , but may indeed have some basic concept of G-d.

Allah is the Arabic word for God. I have several Arabic Christian friends who call God Allah.
So linguistically speaking, God and Allah are one and the same.
Abraham worshiped this diety. Isaac and Ishmael were his sons.
Jews and arabs are descended from these two people.
Jews were Gods chosen people, Arabs were not but God said He would make them into a great nation because they were Abrahams descendants and that was Gods promise to Abraham, that his descendants would be many
Christians are spiritual children of Abraham because Abraham was justified by faith, as are we (so says Paul)
So if Muhammads parants worshiped Allah, they worshiped a God.
Islamic writings are a mixture of jewish, Christian and other influances.
God is indeed one.
When we say that Jesus is the son of God we do not mean that he is a son produced in a sexual union but in a mystical procession. Thats what Musilims feel is so bad about us saying that Jesus is Gods son. They think we are saying that God indulged in a carnal sexual relationship, which would not be something God would be likely to do since he is a Spirit.
There are as many misconceptions within our culture about Islam as there are about Crristianity within Islam.
I have been involved in outreach to Musilims in our local comunity. Most of them are respectful and willing to discuss our differances. Some even invite us into their homes and are very hospitable. Some are short with us.
In fact I find Catholics to be the least hospitable.
We say, 'Would you be interested in freely borrowing a video about the life of Christ?'
'No thank you, I am a Catholid' is their invariable reply!
As there are different denominations within Christianity, there are also 'denominations' within Islam, agreed, not so many though.
Christians get bad press and all Christians are therefore tarred with the same brush as the fanatical few.
I think the same thing happens in Islam
Back to the point.
I think Allah and God are the same, but they worship Him in the wrong way and give Him atributes that are false.
Catchup: maybe the best thing you can do is get hold of a koran and read it. It is very harsh in some places. The stories of our prophets are twisted. The story of 'Marriam' or Mary is odd.But they beliieve she was a virgin too!
Musilims are people too. Jesus died for the world, not just Christians. Reach out to your Musilim brothers and sisters and perhaps with an example of love we can win their respect and perhaps they can see the truth of the Gospel

It seems to me that the BIG problem here is that Allah CAN HAVE NO SON.

Islam reduces Jesus to a major prophet and DENIES that he can be son of God!

The Bible clearly defines this as ANTICHRIST.

1Jo 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

1Jo 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2Jo 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jo 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
