Mat 26:7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
........
Mat 26:10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
........
Mat 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Else why was this so important that Jesus said the gospel was INCOMPLETE without mention of it?

Why is thsi not taught in most churches if, as Jesus said, it is part of the Gospel?

1. She did a good work, (Matt 26:10)
2. it wasn't an "anointing" (for kingship), it was a preparation for burial. (Matt 26:12)
3. The Father anointed Jesus, Hebrews 1:1ff (read the whole chapter of Hebrews 1), "...heir of all things & kingship.)
4. Jesus, in Matthew 21:5, rode in on a donkey as king. This was fulfillment of Isaiah 62:11 & Zech 9:9. (also see John 12:15)
5. Pouring the oil on Jesus was not done to "complete" the gospel or at least the context does not say or imply this.
6. This is NOT the gospel nor a part of it. (Yes, it is found in the New Testament along with other stories that are not a part of the gospel.)
Example: Abraham had the gospel preached to him (Gal 3:8) and learned that the Gentliles would be saved by faith and was told that "in thee shall all nations (Gentiles) be blessed." That is, in Abrahams seed (Jesus) all would be blessed. This is the good news, this is the gospel. (Later in this chapter, Paul said, that this seed was singular, thy seed, that is Christ.)
7. This is NOT to take anything away from Mary, for she did do a good work. We are to speak well of her. I think all Christians remember and love her.

Roger, I appreciate your spirit.

There are dsix things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
-haughty eyes,
-lying tongue,
-hands that shed innocent blood,
-heart that devises wicked plans,
-feet that make haste to run to evil,
-a false witness who breathes out lies,
-and one who sows discord among brothers. --Prov 6:16ff

Why was this good work worthy of such special attention by jesus, why should this be remembered with the gospel, it is more than just another good work to merit such comments from Jesus. There are any number of good works that do not come close to meriting this:

Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
