As far as I'm concerned, Michael Moore has cocked one of the guns he hates so much and shot whatever credibility he might have once had in the head.

All that remains is for us to decently roll the carcass off the roadway into a hole so it won't present a hazard to navigation, and cover it over before the sun bloats the corpse and the flies go to work on it.

Thanks for your input, Mike. You may now fade quietly into obscurity if you like. You certainly will in my life, since I have no intention whatsoever of having any more contact with any more material produced by you in any way, shape, form, manner, or conception. If I never hear of you or your views again, it'll be too soon.

Michael Moore is a genius!! He is laughing his way to the bank. Is is on his way to being a master of self-promotion. He's his biggest fan. (Of course, all of this is my humble opinion)

The audience stood up and applauded his rant??? And who were the audience? A cross section of americans?? I think not. He was awarded and lauded by his peers, but his peers are not a true "representation" of all americans. Let him make that same speech at the GOP convention and see what "americans" think of it ;) .

I really had to wonder....

Is his ego's so big, he's practically drowning in EGO lake?? The letter he wrote was purely "fictitious" to connive the readers that he's right, and the pro-Bush people are wrong. I like to think that he deliberately made the Oscar speech to get people interested in his work....why else did he boast of increases to his website, or increase amount of $$ paid to see his movie?

I'm for free speech, but with RESPONSIBILTY. Michael Moore's speech was irresponsible, crass and self-serving.

Michael Moore has not earned respect from me. He's a liar. He teaches (and often reinforces) dishonesty to the younger generation. Some role model. He spits in the face of the very democracy which allows him to flap his jowls the way he does. Moore's face is the only part of his body that gets any exercise.

What people deem as "hateful" is actually others holding Moore accountable for the words he says. He has vested interests and seems to like hearing himself talk. "Blah, blah, blah." Puh-leeze. And whenever he's wrong about something or said something inaccurate, Moore NEVER (to my knowledge) has admitted it forthright. He acts like his naive, slanted rantings are messages from God Himself. I don't need his fluff.

Finally....never mind that the majority of Iraq is grateful to us for overthrowing Saddam Insane and his oppressive, cruel government. That's totally irrelevant; right, Mr. Moore?

Well, I think I can safely sum up the arguments of those who hate Michael Moore.

He's overweight, so we'll make fun of him, and he says things we don't like so he's obviously being irresponsible with his freedom of speech.

Folks, that's why the First Amendment was framed; to protect others from people like you.

He has a right to his opinion. That people even consider it worthwhile to listen to or read is what I wonder. So he makes movies. Who cares, what those people in Hollywood say anyway. I for one don't care a lick for the political activism of any of the Hollywood types at all. Even those on the right, like making movies makes them experts in politics.

Hi two feathers!!

I will be one of the first to buy a copy of Bowling For Columbine.

I can't resist ~ I have to say it ~ the temptation is too great for me to deny;

I'm sure there will be plenty of copies available.

LOL ~ I'm sorry!!  I just couldn't stop myself.  It was just too much ;) :D

Take care & God Bless,

BF

And while we're talking about bowling for columbine.......

I wonder if Mr Moore will consider Sean Penn a ficticious liberal, or ficticious pacifist. It was reported today that Mr Penn had his car stolen and inside were not one, but two loaded pistols. I just wonder....... I thought it was just fanatical right wingers who carry firearms. I'm glad I was wrong.

But this is far off the OP, please forgive me.

They are entitled to their opinion, I just wonder why the media seems to give them so much free publicity like they for some reason are more important than the rest of us "normal people". Thats what I meant. Like Ed Asner, or Mike Farrels opinions are more valuable than the 70+% of America that has been backing the President all along. And by the way, they were wrong, it hasn't been the bloodbath they claimed it would be. I sorrow for every soldier that has died, as for every innocent Iraqi, and even for the enemies soldiers. See we supporters of the President and our military are not hardhearted, coldblooded, warmongers, we are portrayed as.

It seems as if those Hollywood types get so full of themselves from the adoration that their opinion is of more value than those of us not in the public eye. It isn't any more valuable to me. I could care less if an actor or director is left wing, right wing or whatever, although it is a relief to know there are a few ( very few) conservatives out there. The only thing that I care about in regards to them, is if their movie, is good, and clean so that I don't fear letting my children watch them. (there aren't too many like that)

Being an actor doesn't make you worthy of worship or god status.

Sadly, that is the case in America. Thus, I think it's very important that these people use their (more-or-less ill-gotten) position to say what they think. I won't deny them their right to speak, and I doubt that voicing their political opinions inflates their ego (that's what the Oscars are for, silly!).
Also, sadly, they don't really make any good movies. Sigh... how long until the next LoTR?

Well, I'm in the clear there. I said nothing about his weight or his right to freedom of speech. All I said was that AFAIC he has no credibility and I couldn't care less if I never hear of him again.
