I tend to look at these mass shooters typically as very public suicides. They seem to have externalized their depression and suicidal ideation in a way that they rationalize as everyone else's fault. It's sort of narcissistic...this idea that their misery isn't the result of their choices, but the result of society at large. The manifestos sort of exist as that rationalization put into words.
They typically have no plans to escape, so, yeah.

I think that's true. Mental health in this nation has gotten worse and worse. There was a lot of bullying when I grew up. There was always the kid or two that everyone picked on. I suffered that myself. But we didn't see kids running around shooting up thier schools over ir. In fact a lot of kids kept thier guns in rifle racks in their cars in the school parking lots. I think people used to be mentally tougher.

We have developed a mental illness culture now. Self absorption, "my life sucks" is an acceptable way to live now. I work in an area where I work with a lot of young people. I've seen the increase of mental health issues and suicidal ideation over the last 20 years. And it increased even more since the COVID shutdowns.

There absolutely is a narcissistic element to this. The world revolves around me and is there to provide me with happiness and when it doesn't I'm depressed and want to kill myself. That leads me to then decide I have to show the world how miserable it made me by killing those I deem responsible.

There have been some that wore body armor but they were the exception
I think that's just so they can kill more people before being taken out. It's gives them a better chance to spread more misery on others they blame for their misery.

I was going to say that.

Well here's an odd update....

But since the case in ongoing, Myles is claiming that the Tennessee Star may have published 'certain purported documents and information' that should have remained under seal.
At Myle's request, Tennessee Star editor-in-chief Michael Patrick Leahy will appear in court Monday to explain why his news outlet didn't violate the court order.

And....
Jeff Clark, a former US attorney, also sided with Leahy, saying he was just doing a journalist's job and getting crucial information about the shooting.
Leahy 'is in jeopardy in Tennessee state court for trying to get out the Covenant Killer Audrey Hale’s “manifesto.” And presumably other info about her,' Clark wrote on X.

'The American people deserve to know the details of how Hale was radicalized by the trans agenda. And the victims’ family especially deserve to learn that information.'
We have a 1st Amendment for a reason. It's not to protect psychopathic trans child murderers. It's rather odd that the effort to keep this person's motives are so significant. We don't seem to do this for other shooters.

What investigation? Are they suggesting more conspirators are involved? Otherwise, there's no investigation to be done, just wrapping up the final report. What investigation could be harmed by the release of the documents? Otherwise, it does sound like they just want to control the spin.

Indeed....what investigation? We know the perpetrator, we know the victims. All we were never given was the motive, despite apparently a treasure trove of documentation.

The theory is that the media and this administration has beaten the white supremacist Christian terrorist drum pretty hard. If you have some far left gender ideology goofball murdering people because they're white male Christian oppressors....it sorta makes it look like the media and government are partly to blame.

That's the theory anyway. There really isn't enough to fully ascribe a motive....but so far, it doesn't seem like the shooter was a fan of white, hetero, Christian people.
