I would be suprised if Cartoon Network made any edits at all to the Wolfwood episodes due to "religious" content. They kept all of the "religious" referances in Cowboy Bebop, uncut Gundam Wing(though Adult Swim wasn't even around at the time), and Lupin III.

I think the main advantage to the DVDs of the Miyazaki films is that they have the Japanese with English subtitles on them. However, I wouldn't be suprised if Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service showed on the Disney Channel. Kiki's Delivery Service actually showed on the Disney Channel before. They will probably show them in the dub, but Disney makes some good dubs, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

Murphy's Laws Of Anime

I'm certain you've heard of Murphy's law (whatever can go wrong, will).

These are but a few applications of it to anime fans:

1: The quality of the video card on your PC is inversely proportionate to whatever you wish to view. A site or spam e-mail you never wanted to see in your life will show up fine, but the card will freeze and crash should you try to view something on which you just blew a large portion of your money. (Law of Woeful Video Cards)

2: Your interest in a particular anime will often be the exact opposite of what someone in very close proximity to you thinks of it. (Law of Loud Complaint)

3: If you buy the dub, the sub will be better, and vice versa. (Law of Greener Pastures)

4: If there is a questionable scene, it will show the second the person most likely to be offended by it enters the room. ( Law of Total Embarrassment)

5: Telemarketing calls, emergencies, explosions of dog barking or loud arguing, and urgent requests for your assistance bailing someone out of a complicated computer problem: all will happen during the last or a major episode of televised anime which you are not recording, and will usually occur right at the most important plot juncture. (Law of Incredibly Bad Timing)

6: If you establish the case that most anime fans are indeed respectable people on an internet forum, soon enough, a rude 15 year old will arrive and sorely test that statement. (Law Of The Smart-Mouth)

7: If an anime is too widely popular, it will become a wide franchise, and episodes after that time will no longer be good, but will be mere advertising spots for the products sold. (Law Of Collector's Mania)

8: Cosplay outfits always look worse on you than you think they do. (Law of Appearance Differential)

9: If you finally own all the animes you want to own, you will be burglarized the next week. (Lars Senny's Law)

10: If you're eating while watching, the most disgusting/goriest scene in the entire series or movie will come up just as you take the last bite. (Law of Ugh)

11: The higher the hype, the worse the anime. (Law of Overly Hyped Anime)

12: If you lend your best DVD to someone, it will come back with a large scratch. (Law Of Loan Scars)

Oh, by the way, there was a huge failure to edit in last night's episode. I'm not saying what it is because I don't write or talk using such terms, but let's just say the censors missed a word that is normally never missed, by order of the Federal Communications Commission and usually on financial pain unless a clearance was obtained.

I think all the editors need to go back to edit school. . .lol

LOL, I'm back, this time on my own desktop.

Hehe, I'm still bouncing between Spirited Away and Laputa. -^.^- I guess I will finally decide sooner or later. I've read a review for Laputa, not for Spirited Away though.

Anyway, as for Trigun, I thought tonight's episode (last night's actually) was interesting (although it was a little ecchi :o ) but otherwise cool. I think this is the beginning of the Legato plotline, although I'm not sure. Meryl is definitely obsessed with Vash. :p

Oh, by the way, does anyone else like the closing theme? I do-I even put the sound up for it LOL. I don't think it's worth the risk of being found out so maybe I should stop that ~.^ but it's cool ending credits music nonetheless.

You can buy the Trigun sound track. The musician is Tsuneo Imahori, and, as anyone who's listened to both could have told you, Led Zeppelin is one of the influences he lists. We have two Trigun CD's: "The first donuts" and "Spicy stewed donut". I like the first one better. It's fine music.

Anyway, I'm guessing from the "next episode" preview that tonight's episode is the introduction of Wolfwood. :p Maybe I'm wrong again.

Again, knowing how little most anime writers seem to know about what they work with when it comes to religion-and how not to totally mangle it beyond recognition (if you're going to write about a religion or set of beliefs in any context, you should at least have taken a world religions course or read a book or something), I'm expecting that to be incredibly stupid and a detriment to the series. . .:p

Today at 05:50 AM conceived in fire said this in Post #771

i think my favorite anime soundtrack is Vampire Miyu...pretty, but still dark and depressing...cool stuff.

i like the music in Samurai X (Kenshin), it's dark and depressing too, but sounds very nice. The drum beat has been used to great effect.

LOL, open again. . .:)

Anyway, I didn't particularly like tonight's episode. Although there wasn't ecchiness, it basically totally left the plot and character development behind for almost the first 15 minutes and was composed mostly of fights between Vash and the bandit crew. Only at the end was it connected to anything in the general plotline, and that seemed like it was incongrously thrown in (kind of like the final boss in FFIX that you didn't even know existed until the end) Also, I missed a good portion of it because I had to lower the volume on my TV since everyone in the house had to walk past my door at least once LOL (one time I would have been grateful for overediting if it had been done because I could have had it louder and heard somewhat more-rather than at the volume I had to keep it at to avoid potential trouble because of the IMHO underediting that was done)

I actually think Monday's episode will be better though (despite the introduction of Wolfwood) because it looks somewhat like more of a storyline episode than basically 17 minutes of fighting and a hint at the plot.

The reason for my sigh post was that I found out I will be living at home for 2 more years before I can leave home, and my parents, while they love movies and American TV, they would be shocked out of their mind and VERY angry at me should they find out that I'm an anime fan.

So basically, I have to hide for 2 more years: I can't begin buying the series and such I want to see, I have to have the volume so low it can't be heard through a wall or door when I'm watching anime on TV or if I buy the DVD and watch it on my computer (I do wish subtitles or captioning was more popular on TV than it is), I can't record shows, I can't go to the local conventions, I can't be seen in stores that primarily sell anime, I can't join any offline groups. . .It's really annoying that I have to watch my step so carefully.

My sister knows I like anime, but she doesn't know what my favorites are or what I'd like to see beyond Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away, and since she talks to my mother a lot, I can't even reveal myself entirely to her.

:sigh:
