Apologist,
There are lots of signs going on in the heavens. Eclipses, planets lining up, and a very major sign in the heavens that has been there for quite a few years now, SATELITES by the thousands, not to even mention the space shuttle, that no one ever heard of back in biblical times.

Luke was not talking about things like that my friend.

"Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,"

These are cataclysmic events, not natural phenomena.
I believe Revelation 6:12 is the fulfillment of this verse:

" I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood."
The New King James Version, (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers) 1998, c1982.

Ah-I see where you're comin from now Apologist,
You are either mid-trib, or post-trib. You are wanting to go through Gods wrath, that is also known as Jacobs Trouble. I don't know of anyone that would want to prophesy in those days, except for the 144,000 and the two witnesses. You can't combine our beliefs. We will only beat a dead horse. See ya.

Actually I am pre-trib.

The quote from Jeremiah does not mean that henceforth only true prophets will speak of peace. That would mean the book of Revelation was not from a true prophet. Maybe it was referring to John the Baptist. We know things changed again after that. If you don't believe that prophets exist today then you only believe part of the Bible, not 1 Cor. 12,13,14. for example. I know a prophet. The rapture is at Rev.11:15. (see Rev. 10:7). With much love, Debbie

I guess it just SEEMS to me that there are different definitions of "prophecy", "Prophet", "Prophesy"...clearly from those verses (1 cor.) it states that some would have the gift of prophecy. Who can deny that? Could that just mean the gift of a "word in due season" (But that sounds more like encouragement, though doesn't it? I dunno)...I said in a previous post that I don't think there are prophets today...I guess I should have said I don't know how many LEGITIMATE prophets there are today...I don't happen to know of any but I've heard some claim to be. They make vague generalized "prophecies" totally unlike the SPECIFIC and UNCHALLENGEABLE prophecies of the Old Testament...

By the way - I believe that if I ever choose not to believe something the Bible says then I am the one who is wrong! :)

I'd be very careful when someone proclaims THEMSELF to be a prophet. Did Daniel go around saying "I'm a prophet- you better listen up"??? I can't even think of one true prophet that propt himself up. They must be digging for gold, in a mine that belongs to someone else.

Hey Debbie,

I know that when it says "the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of the Lords" -Revelation 11:15
You think that this means the rapture.....

But from Christ's description of Noah and Lot Luke 17:26-29....both of these two were taken out before the wrath of God came, so it shall be.

Could this verse of yours also mean that the kingdoms that are left over are combined into one? Just my interpretation, but think about it...

Hello Apologist,
If you are pre-trib, you won't see any of those signs. The church is not mentioned anywhere after Rev. 4:1, which is the rapture. We will be long gone by then.

rollinTHUNDER,

I agree. I never said I would see these events, I only mentioned that the prophecy in Acts which is from the book of Joel will find it's fulfillment in the tribulation which Revelation 6 describes.

Debbie,

There are two meanings for a "prophet" in scripture. One is a person who foretells the future such as Daniel, Eziekiel, and John.
The other definition is one who proclaims God's word such as you mentioned from 1 Corinthians 13-14, which could pertain to any pastor or evangelist. Even you and I are "prophets" in that sense. I am referring to anyone claiming to speak new revelation from God is a false prophet. God's word is complete.

God Bless

Hello Apologist,
What's with all the prophet stuff anyway?? Someone may have thought that I was a false prophet, but it's a wide world with too many beliefs. Yes, this upset me at first, because I never even said that I was a prophet. But, I'm over it , we need to move on. The shepherd knows His sheep, and they know His voice.

Sorry rollinTHUNDER, my posts about prophets had nothing to do with your post. I was just answering Josiah who mentioned so-called "prophets" today. I guess it got off topic a bit.

Take care brother

I said I "knew" a prophet, I myself am not one. I don't have that gift of the Holy Spirit, but I know someone who does. Dear Sbbqb7n16, thanks for the help in pointing out that scripture. I was trying to figure that out myself. Here is the proof that the rapture will occur at Rev. 11:15, but I am not saying it's afterwrath. (my emphasis added)-1 Cor.15:51-52= "Behold I show you a MYSTERY; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST trump:for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. "
Rev.10:7- "But in the days of the voice of the SEVENTH angel, when he shall begin to SOUND, the MYSTERY of God should be finished, as He hath declared to his servants the prophets."
Rev. 11:11-15-(dead in Christ rise first, starting with the 2 dead prophets lying in the street)- "And after 3 days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet;and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, COme up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand:and the remnant were affrigtened, and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past; and behold, the third woe cometh quickly. And the SEVENTH angel SOUNDED; and there were great voices in heaven saying, "The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever."
THat's why the Bible says, "we won't know the day or the hour", because eventually, we WILL know the year.
