what kind of sorority? innocently i rushed to join a sorority my freshman year, turns out all those uhm service sororities are uhm service sororities, only not community service. all they do is party party and party(maybe thats okay, i dont know)some of them might be christains but its very hard to put the christian life first because of the many demands of the sororities, and then you have to pay to be in the sorority, its like paying to make friends. i think some people are suited for the sorority life, some others should just be very cautious, maybe becuase i attend one of the largest schools with the largest population of greek life, i might be slightly biased, but i guess you can lead a bible study without being in the sorority or something, anyway good luck

Greek life isn't that big here at UM, and the school is very strict with the fraternities and sororities.  I know a couple Christian guys in fraternities who are both leading Bible studies.  I wouldn't just naively join a sorority without knowing if I would be the only Christian. I know that would be very difficult.

I pledged a sorority last year. I knew there was partying, but I also knew that no one was forcing me to do anything. In fact, meeting Christians who were in sorities was what prompted me to join. Unfortunately, I joined for the wrong reasons. I couldn't afford the dues, so I was never initiated. If your parents won't pay, make sure you have a way to pay BEFORE you pledge!

I forgot to post my point: don't let the fact that the sorority isn't Christian discourage you from rushing. Consider formal rush, so can keep your options open. Your friend's sorority may be a good fit for her, but it might not be for you. Of course pray about and make sure you're joining for the right reasons. Many Christian collegiate organizations do have resources for Greek students. By the way, what sorority are you looking at?

*We don't have any Christian sororities here; I didn't know they existed!

*The sorority I'm thinking of joining is Kappa Kappa Gamma, or maybe Zeta Tau Alpha.  I'm just really thinking about rushing, and then I can see what my options are.  It's not a foregone conclusion that I will actually join a sorority.

Well I attend a Christian college and we just brought social clubs down here from our sister school in Anderson, but I don't really see a point to them...they get on my nerves, the officers (well at least the president) isn't very involved...and while I don't think we should be having these killer keggers or anything...I would hope we would do more than what we do...and that is nothing!!!

Jess

P.S. Sorry I just had to let out my frustrations.

Supposedly, the fraternities and sororities on my campus are really active in community service and all sorts of other good activities like intramural sports.  It seems to be true.  I don't really know too much about their party life, but I know it is greatly restricted.
