Socialist politicians teach people to covet what isn't theirs. They actually lead people away from faith in the Lord because its God who supplies our needs not a politician. God never said tax the rich and they will supply your needs. No, He said that He will supply our needs. When was the last time a Socialist taught that? Socialism has no place in the church. If we look at James chapter 4 we can see what true faith verses fauthlessness looks like.

James 4:1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4 You adulterous people,[a] don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us[b]? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”[c]
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

From Christian mystic St. Teresa of Avila:
“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
~ Teresa of Ávila

Let us remember also that in Acts the early Christians shared everything in common, and a married couple who concealed some of their abundance were struck dead.

In other words, it is our duty as Christians to do Jesus' work--to establish a just society in which every person on earth has what he needs to live.

Former Senator Al Franken, when he was a satirist, told of "Supply Side Jesus." Supply Side Jesus is an invention of the Religious Right in their attempts to remake him in their image. As many times as I've shared it, I still SMH at how warped the concept of capitalist Jesus is.

You can’t accept the word of a so called saint over scripture. The Catholics who believe this are a social justice gospel and not the true gospel of salvation. James 4:13. Do a search on buy and sell and see capitalism in the Bible.
Just because the early church lived communally does not make them socialists. The poor you have with you always and you can help them whenever you want. If the church would just tithe you could remove the poor and many other things.

God also says love all as self.. which means care for them in time of need as you would like to be cared for in a similar situation. That is God's concept of a social gospel
Leading people into covetousness and faithlessness isn't love.

Tithing 10% wouldn't even cover Social Security (16.3% employer plus employee share.)
A world with a population smaller than Chicago runs differently from one with 8 billion.
St. Paul also refers to the body of Christ and the different talents.
Jesus told the apostles to was the feet (care for) others.
American individualism can and has easily turned toxic.

Teaching people to covet what isn't theirs instead of teaching them that God supplies our needs is not a good thing. It's not love. It's not helping people. It only leads them astray

Exploitation is evil. Capitalism without guardrails and safety nets is pure evil.
I am not a socialist but I do support trade unions, universal health care, the Fair Labor Srandards Act, Social Security, etc.
My conservative state decided to deregulate work for 14 year olds.
Why? So the chicken plants can exploit immigrant children? For shame! WWHC? What would Jesus condemn?

I don't see anyone using scripture to promote capitalism like they do socialism, thats kinda my point. I dont see what's wrong with 14 year old boys working on a farm. I dont have the details either. I know it's easy to make something harmless look bad in today's world.

Are you suggesting that there's no coveting being encouraged in a capitalist market?
If you are, that's turning a blind eye to reality, imho.

Socialism doesn't teach people to covet just as Capitalism doesn't teach people to be greedy. Evil teaches them to abuse what they have.

Socialism punishes workers with high taxes so others can be lazy and not work.
And you will notice the elites remain untouched either way ... as if the workers and the 'others' were a different breed of people.

Most CEO's would collapse if they had to work one day on the floors of the factories they run.

Most states have laws to protect young teens (under 16) from working long hours. They restrict the number of hours they can work during the school year. They restrict how late in the evening they can work. This is for their own protection during their formative, educational years.

We are not talking about teens coming home and having chores on a family farm.

I started working in the fields when I was 11 years old. I bought my own school clothes. I worked every summer. I enjoyed the work. Many of my friends also worked when they were 12 years old as baggers at the grocery stores or field work.
What exactly is wrong with work? I always enjoyed it.
I do notice that health care has become very very expensive now that there is a deep pocket Obamacare without any cost restrictions. What cost $100 dollars now cost $1000. Health care should never have been allowed to be "for profit."

For the majority of this country's existence, Social Security didn't exist. Neither did the welfare state. Charity and churches did just fine with handling poverty.

When people voluntarily share resources, that's great. When it's coerced by government, it's tyranny.

If by guardrails, you mean certain rules that respect property and labor rights, I agree.

Most other regulations only serve to benefit elites that have friends in government.

Social Security is a ponzi scheme that was intended to be temporary in the beginning. Today, it just robs workers of a portion of their salary to provide others with a much lower return than private investment would typically provide.

By the way, chicken farms typically employ immigrant adults, not children. A lot of them are illegally here to begin with, however, so their age is secondary in concern.

There's an important difference between envy and ambition. Capitalism encourages people to work for more resources. You could say it creates a desire for more in life in general.

Envy and coveting things implies that you believe you are owed something that someone else has. Socialism is for those with envy, because it uses the power of government to steal from others.
