Good to see people arent focusing on his disastrous Twitter campaign roll-out.

Not sure whos competence that spoke to. Musk for obvious reasons? Or Desantis for having the bad judgement to trust such a moment to a company in total turmoil?

They seem quite different on many dimensions. Why cant you find something preferable about one of them?
Well, when they both fall below my minimum standards, it's really no longer a matter of preferences for me. But it's still early. If one of them seems like too much of a menace, I might be motivated to vote against him.

I see.

Well if one of thems gonna win, you may as well have a say about which one. I mean its not just about them personally. Its the Supreme Court and other judges, foreign policy, loads of cabinet appointments who make important decisions, etc, etc. Real differences.

Neither would be remotely near my choice out of all possible presidents. But when its narrowed down to the two, choice becomes clear.

Bravo for him.

From Twitter:

During Twitter announcement Desantis responds on the immigration crisis: If I were President I would reverse everything Biden is doing.

Not quite.

We’ll declare a national emergency on day 1,

On what basis?

construct a border wall,

...in fact Biden did complete at least some sections of the wall already underway when he took office.

reimplement remain in Mexico,

Will his "emergency" order ignore the courts?
and deal with the cartels that are trafficking people and fentanyl to our country.

How?
Perhaps like in El Salvador where the President suspended the rights of the accused?

While there was a lot of technical issues I did like what I heard...

...perhaps his first wrong decision was to rely on a Twitter company whose boss fired a lot of technical expertise....

Ron DeSantis said he would fire FBI Director Christopher Wray on day one

Bravo #2.
Really? Trying to clean out Trump appointees? Seems like that's not going to make the MAGA crowd very happy.

Not to mention that "firing the FBI head for political reasons" was one of the things that got the previous GOP president in a bit of trouble. Nothing like not learning from history ... oh wait, that's right, they can't teach actual history in Florida anymore, seems on-brand.

It'll be interesting to see how Trump's base treats DeSantis. Will they look at him as a traitor once he starts seriously swinging at Trump? Or will they consider him as a reasonable alternative to Trump? My initial impression is that DeSantis won't stand a chance unless something forces Trump to drop out early.

I can't vote for DeSantis, and I can't vote for Biden unless he runs against Trump. So if it comes down to DeSantis vs Biden, I'll just abstain and focus on the other races.

DeSantis is charismatic and well spoken, I don't think he would need to do any swinging at Trump. All he has to do is be himself and he has a good chance.

Lots of people liked Trump's policies but didn't like the fact he was neither charismatic nor well spoken...

DeSantis is a young, charismatic, well spoken Trump - a Trump 2.0 if you will.

That gives him a chance - without doing much. Side by side, DeSantis is younger, that alone shows "future hope"... This generation not last.

DeSantis has issues, but Trump is always his own worst enemy.

Scott could clean DeSantis's clock.

Woke panic starts to grind after too long.
Panic and fear is too Trumpy.
Reagan "bootstraps" and smiley optimism might be the ticket.

Or not?

Scott is who the establishment republicans want I think. That gives him a 50% chance.

Look how close Trump and Cruz were in the 2015 primaries... I'm thinking Scott will sit about where Cruz did...

Unless people break hard for Trump this time, which I'm not convinced they will... I'm thinking the race will be running between the three. Trump, Scott, and DeSantis.

It dawn on me that Scotts best chance is DeSantis. DeSantis will pull primary votes from Trump but not necessarily from Scott...

Musk fired his head tech guy after that...

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on him. If you're right... then I would have to consider him a great enough menace to vote for Biden.

I want to vote for Nikki Haley.

When it comes down to it, we all have to vote our conscious. Not one person has to agree with you but you at that voting booth.

I like her pretty well. She's always held her own.

Do vote in the primary...

The bad rollout on Twitter was the sort of thing people made fun of and then within a few days forgot about. I don't think it will actually hurt DeSantis, its negative effect is that it didn't have a positive effect. That is, what was an opportunity to make a big splash and impress people ended up not doing so. So the problem wasn't that it was a negative for him, but rather that it wasn't a positive for him.

The media is calling it differently, saying he totally lacks charisma.

To me, he might appeal to certain people who see him as a bully who will beat up on all the people they don't like.

Personally, I think a charismatic leader would listen to the people, seek common ground, and most of all, protect those who need protection.
