"The indictment, which has the potential to alter the country’s political and legal landscape, came after weeks of speculation about whether and when Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg might take such a step. It sets the stage for a courthouse showdown between one of the most combative politicians in modern American history and local prosecutors who have pursued him for years."

As Stalin said "show me the man and I'll give you the charges"

It's Trump today, all 75 million of his voters tomorrow.

Just call the US the Soviet Union, because they just indicted someone - charges not even announced as to what they might be - a former US president, to prevent him from running for president again.

Every single one of his voters will be next. We are the new Soviet Union.

This is the only post I'll ever make on this because quite frankly, I don't trust anyone now. Thought crimes? I'm sure that's next...

Nice hyperbole.

Check my edit. It's the first time in my life I'm terrified of our government.

I couldn't live like you, terrified that the bogeyman is coming to get me. Come on now. They aren't coming after you. People can still vote for whomever they want.

They're certainly giving him enough lead time to flee the country to some tropical paradise with no extradition. There he could rule like Chiang Kai Shek, a (self-proclaimed) president in exile.

It would really be the best solution for everyone. I think most people just want Trump to go away. Forever. To an isolated locale with no internet, tik-tok, or television. While our senses of justice might be outraged, we would get over it, just relieved to see him gone.

Maybe his most rebellious followers would follow him there and form their own little country. They could become pool boys and fishermen. I don't think I'd miss them either.

People can still vote for whomever they want.

That's not a comfort when they are jailing their political opponents

Not only that, but it's not a comfort to those who recognize clearly how the new fascist regime (AKA democrats) has their hand on the voting scales the way they do.

Really, your post might have tried for comfort but instead won an award for the most absurd post I've heard. Ever.

I do not believe this will end the way most Trump haters are hoping for. Because a George Sorros backed prosecutor in a liberal state got an indictment by a grand jury which proverbially could indict a “ham sandwich “ means little in the end. Even if convicted most credible legal analysts say that would have no chance to be upheld on appeal. This is pure politics in its worst 3rd world form. All cries this is just true justice are sad and laughable at the same time. Trust me this is going to back fire and will only strengthen Trump.

I don't hate Trump. Just don't think he made a good president.

A grand jury made up of 23 ordinary citizens from all walks of life, evaluating evidence, working hard.

Interesting considering we don't even know what the counts of the indictment are yet, much less has Trump been convicted of anything that could even be appealed yet. There is literally nothing to analyze yet.

We do know it has to do with the payment to the inappropriate content star. There is no legal there, there. This is so shoddy and crooked it may not even make it to trial. Except for the possible biased judge factor there are many moves to be made for dismissal. This DA has stretched the law and contorted misdemeanors into felonies that are federal not state, which is out of his juristiction. Other agencies have already looked at the case and rejected to prosecute. This is a political hit job at its worst. This million dollar George Sorros bought DA may find himself defending his law license when this is done. There has been much to analyze here ,even legal analysts with no like for Trump call this a stupid move on the DA's part.

Yes all above board , just seeking justice no bias here.

A George Sorros bought DA who campaigned on going after Trump, brings a case other agencies rejected because it had no merit. There is no way to doll this pig up with lipstick, it is still a pig.

If you know how grand juries work you also know it's not hard to indict the proverbial "ham sandwich".

Actually, no we don't know that. We have rumors indicating that's what it was, but that's not the same thing. Rumors and speculations are the bread and butter of news agencies, but when it comes to legal analysis they are useless. We also have rumors that say that the indictment has 30 separate counts, which indicates it's far more then just the Stormy Daniels thing, even if that is the case that started the investigation.
