Donald Trump indicted by Manhattan grand jury

Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter – the first time in American history that a current or former president has faced criminal charges.

The indictment has been filed under seal and will be announced in the coming days. The charges are not publicly known at this time, one source told CNN.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office will reach out to Trump’s attorneys to discuss his surrender to face an arraignment.

A lawyer for Donald Trump said Thursday he’s been told that the former president has been indicted in New York on charges involving payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital sexual encounter.

It becomes the first ever criminal case against a former U.S. president and a jolt to Trump’s bid to retake the White House in 2024.

Joe Tacopina, a lawyer for Trump, told The Associated Press he had been told that a grand jury that had been meeting for months voted to indict Trump. The specific charges were not immediately made public.

Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing and has attacked the investigation, was expected to surrender to authorities next week, according to a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to discuss a matter that remained under seal.

Even if Trump isn't convicted, or if he's convicted but just gets a minor slap on the wrist, I think this sets a very important precedent. It demonstrates that even a former president isn't completely above the law.

And now that the precedent has been set, maybe we can get a couple more indictments going in the near future. Because that Georgia case and the classified documents case need some resolution one of these days.

No one is above the law - A president nor a former president who broke the law should be held accountable as any citizen would be.

So you were on the grand jury and saw the evidence, then. After all, you're claiming there was no evidence, so surely you must have seen what the grand jury saw to make that claim.

Or you could just wait until the trial starts and evidence gets presented before making a claim of a nothingburger.

Federal prosecutors already determined Trump's hush money to Stormy didn't break the law. It's already been looked into and they found nothing. This is nothing more than a far-leftist, who ran a "get Trump" campaign and has ties to Soros, is trying to humiliate someone on the other side of the aisle.
