The Pastor Sunday mentioned personal confession and absolution.

How does one go about it? I mean to speak with him next Lord's Day.

Yours in the Lord,

I made my first confession last month shorty after this post was made. How often does one attend to this sacrament?

Luther's Large Catechism IV, 74-75: "And here you see that Baptism, both in its power and signification, comprehends also the third Sacrament, which has been called repentance, as it is really nothing else than Baptism" (Theodore G. Tappert, trans. and ed., The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, (Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1959), 751).

I always mention the availability whenever the liturgical color shifts to violet. If you desire to go more frequently, do so.
The Pastor mentions Holy Absolution often so I took him up on it and we are going to meet once a month for private confession.

There's a brief form tucked into the middle of most of the newer service books. I think it tends to be conducted as more of a private meeting in the pastor's office than the anonymity of the screened box.
In my Parish, you can just show up and request it, or call ahead. We do it kneeling at the rail in the chancel. Pastor standing on the other side of the rail. While it does not matter, where better place than kneeling before Christ's Altar.

We kneel at the rail, Pastor on the other side, and I use the words given in the LSB.
