An Australian Tech Repairer takes a look at the iPhone 13. He discovers that, when he switches parts on two Apple phones, the phone claims the parts are not "genuine".

That’s to stop people self repairing.

I have an iphone6s, a motorola G Power (2020) which has a cracked screen, and the phone I am using right now is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I just upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy A13 though for specific reasons. I am getting it this week. :)

PSA to those who have iphones along with a mac and windows pc. You can get IOS messages now in the Windows PC by installing AirMessages on the MacOS first. Then just go to AirMessages on the web and there you go. I just thought I should share it!

Have you all heard that T-Mobile bought Mint Mobile?

I was surprised about it. Yes, they do use T-Mobile's network to begin with, but the number of competitors is dwindling.
@peaceful-forest ,
I did hear he sold Mint Mobile. I never have used MM so I do not know about the quality of service vs TMobile. But good for Ryan Reynolds.

@littleangelone ,
I presently use the samsung galaxy A13 on Tmobile. Zero issues. Which is a big improvement from my samsung s7 edge. Ugh that phone never worked on TMobile. How do you like the galaxy so far?

For me it is simple, I do not have a cell phone. I have a land line with an answering system that is all. What I do not like about cell phones are the electromagnetic radiations they do cause cancer. Why do we need to carry cell phones anyway?

cheers,

JFF
Cell phones do not cause cancer. I worked on microwave systems for 3-1/2 years, in the 1970's. I'm 72. My parents survived cancer; my youngest brother died from cancer. I'm 72 and I've never had cancer. Worry will kill you way before any electronic device.

Beleive whay you want, there are plenty of articles out there proving too much EM radiation if harmful in many ways. search pubmed and see for yourself.

If you were as logical as you claim, you would not ignore the research data.

Jff
If what you claim is true, people would be dropping like flies. Phones are ubiquitous now. People are more at risk from crossing the road, watchinhg their phone instead of traffic. Using a phone while driving is even more dangerous.

I use a Samsung. Very much an Android gal here. My husband used to use an iphone, but when I got my first smartphone I got the Samsung Note 2, and he loved it and he switched over to Android shortly after.

I have an Android phone. It was the first smart phone I have ever owned. My previous phones were basic phones. I'm not too happy with Android.

I was planning on my next phone being a Linux phone. For those that don't know what that is, it's a smart phone that has an operating system other than Apple iOS and Google's version of Android. They do use open source Android (as Google's Android is open source itself), but they are altered to create security-oriented and privacy-oriented operating systems. Examples are Lineage OS and Graphene OS.
Why do you not like Android? It's actually better than iOS, the only downside is that Android isn't as well-optimized as iOS.
If you compare iOS stock cam and Android using GCam, there's not much difference in terms of camera quality.

I have an older Android. Android 8 to be exact. It does things I don't like. For example, I can't keep the VPN on; the OS will eventually make it stop running in the background. This is actually a feature on Android 8 - make stuff stop running in the background for "battery optimization". I also notice that it's okay with certain apps draining my battery (like games) but has a problem with Signal being "too power intensive" (it's not in my opinion). Google's Android is trash.

The Linux Androids are made to be safer and have the device last longer.

There should be a setting where you can disable that "put apps to sleep in the background" for certain apps.

If this is true I'd like to know to do it. It's a very annoying feature.
I have a Samsung S22 Ultra running Android 13, so I'm not sure how useful this will be.

But I can go to "settings" (Swipe down from the top and the little gear icon), then tap the magnifying glass to search through the settings. I typed in "Deep Sleep" and it opened up a settings page where I can turn on and off the ability for apps to be put to sleep. That same page also had a section where I could specify apps which I never wanted to be put in deep sleep.

This may be different on your phone, but by searching I'm sure you'll be able to find something that will help.

I don't have the exact same thing as you. I think the Android 8 equivalent would be Smart Manager -> App Manager.

I do already have certain apps as being allowed to auto start and are not battery optimized (not supposed to deep hibernate). But this doesn't work unfortunately.

Thanks for helping anyway.
