Mine is Psalm 121 A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

I like this verse because God is showing his power and authority over our enemies seen and unseen here. He reassures us that we are not alone in our battles. he reassures us that we are safe no matter what but obviously it does not mean that we should be totally careless, we should use our own minds too, etc street smartness and spiritual intuition :)

Shalom

My go to scripture is "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." It is a reminder that we need to follow His plan and purpose for us. Then we do not have to worry or fear, He will work it all out for us. To His praise, honor and Glory.

First there is 1 Corinthians 15 which declares the entire gospel that saved us. If you believe this, you are saved.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Then there is the faith to overcome all sin:

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV
13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Third, what to do if you do sin.

1 John 1:9 KJV
9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:1 KJV
1. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

These verses succinctly summarize what the the Bible is all about, explain what Jesus accomplished through the cross, and explain the relationship between grace and works in regard to our salvation.

This is an easy one for me. GOD IS SOVEREIGN! HE RULES OVER EVERYTHING IN HIS CREATION. When I started to study, this was the first doctrine I researched, and was blown away! This doctrine is what fuels me. This doctrine is what I base my life on. This doctrine explains everything in Scripture. When I focus on God's sovereignty, my brain waves start racing, my heart speeds up, and there are shivers down my spine! I am left speechless! I am in total awe of the sovereignty of God!

2Chron 20:6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, are you not the God in heaven? And don't you RULE over ALL the (earthly) kingdoms of the Gentiles? And in your hand is there not power and might so that no one can withstand you?

Job 23:13 But He is in of one mind. Who can turn Him? Anything He desires to do, He does.

Psalm 115:3 But our GOD is in the heavens; he has done whatever He is pleased to do.

The church buildings teach that "God wants to do this or that..." Scripture teaches that God does whatever He wants!

Psalm 135:6 Whatever the LORD pleased, He did so in heaven, on earth, in the seas, and in the deepest parts of the earth.

Ecc 3:14 I know that whatever God does shall be forever. No one can add or take away from what He has done. He has done this (shown His sovereignty and power) so that men should fear Him.

Is 14:24-27 The Lord of Hosts has sworn, "Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass. And since I have purposed it, so it shall stand...For the LORD of Hosts has purposed and who shall disannul (make ineffectual) it? His hand is stretched out and who shall turn His hand back?

Is 46:10-11 "...My counsel will stand and I will do all that pleases me....I have spoken, I will bring it to pass. I have purposed to (to do something) and I will do it!

Is 55:11 So shall the word that goes out of My mouth be, it shall not return to me empty, but it will accomplish that which I please (the job of which He sent it for), it will be successful in accomplishing the job I sent it to do.

Eze 24:14 I the LORD have spoken a thing, and it will come to pass. I will do it...

Dan 4:35 All of the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing. And God acts according to what He has willed, among the army in heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and no one can hinder His hand or dare to question Him.

PRAISE GOD!

Rather than a singular favorite there are several that resonate.

Deliverance: Psalm 18 (all)

I love you, O LORD, my strength.
In my distress I called upon the LORD;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.

Gratitude: Psalm 34 (all)

I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Healing: Job 42:10

And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Faithfulness: Genesis 39:20-21

And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison. But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

Purpose: Esther 4:14

And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Favor: Psalm 90:17

Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

Submission: Psalm 127:1-2

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Contrition: Psalm 51 (all)

Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!

Obedience: Matthew 13:23

As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.

It has changed many times in the last 52 years. Currently my favorite, more accurately, the verses that are most real to me now, are the words of Jesus:

John 15:13-17 KJV
13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17. These things I command you, that ye love one another.

His is the best friend I have ever had. I have not always been a very good friend to Him. But He has never left me or failed me.
My heart refers to Him as "my friend in heaven..."
Brings a tear to my eye.

Mine is the opening of John's Gospel in the KJV. Why? Because it is a beautiful expression of the entire theology, and the expression is beautiful - right there at the heart of the origins of modern English. (Though written right at the start of the 17th Century, it draws for expression on the 16th Century Bibles.)

Ephesians 4:31-32 reminds me of how merciful God is and how we should treat each other. My non-Christian family of origin was very critical and unforgiving of others including relatives. I had to learn what God wanted from me.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
